That, plus the fact that Chucky Shumer wants to get on TV again, seems to explain this stupidity.

Well, Mrs. Clinton did return to the Senate today...you know how Chuckie hates when she steals his spotlight.

Blackmail?

nah, they wouldn't do that -

The blackmail is the implied threat to our Big Oil companies. How dare they not pay off the Dim'Senate to get a deal done with Iraq.

How long will it take most Americans to realize that democrats really don’t like people and want them to suffer, want America to suffer? Look around, the big-shot democrats are private-jetting all over the place while doing their best to keep you from even filling up you gas tank, they are making big money on their privileged positions with lobbyists and in real estate, their biggest supporters are just like them - Hollywood hotshots making millions in one of the least important industries in the country. When history has already taught us that democrat plans lead to disaster, why are so many Americans embracing them???

I just heard the Dick Durbin state that Iraq should use their own oil to rebuild their country but then other Democrats want to block Iraq from from using American help to get them to use their own oil.

Let me guess. They want Gazprom, Citgo, and whatever the Iranian, Syrian, and Chinese oil companies call themselves, to get the oil.

"The best way that they can do that, from their positions of power, is to reduce everyone else’s lifestyle so that they can look down their noses at us even more. "

Exactly right! To the RATS, life is a zero-sum game. The only way to get more is to take it away from someone else. Conservatives and Republicans believe that there are enough goodies to go around, and if we need more, we can make more.

As President Reagan once said, "It is amazing what can be accomplished when you don't worry about who gets the credit!"

A group of Democratic senators led by Charles E. Schumer of New York is appealing...to block a set of contentious no-bid oil contracts that Iraq has decided to award to the Western oil giants Exxon Mobil, Shell, Total and BP.

Hmmmmmmmmmm. Let's see here...

1. Iraq is a sovereign country.

2. Shell is a Dutch-British concern, BP is British, Total is French. Only Exxon Mobil is American.

Just exactly how did the U.S. Senate gain jurisdiction in this matter?

They all have offices and sell inside the US so the idiot Schumer is against it. The Rats will do whatever it takes for them to destroy the US and Iraq.

I went ahead and read the 42 posts that had accumulated in commentary by the time I arrived at this thread.

My thoughts are BDS as being the answer.

The BDS goes back to the 2000 election me thinks. Back to the fact the Dems hold a HUGE grudge for Bush as all their cheating, ie; dead people, dogs, cats, disallowing military votes, chads, finally the SCOTUS, etc. failed to get their moron Al Gore elected. This is why they HATE BUSH so damned much they still cry about his “Selection, not Election”. The Presidency in their minds was to never, ever have been returned to the Republicans. They don’t care a whit about anything but the power to Socialize this Nation no matter what the people of this Nation desire.

IIRC Part of the “deal” in the beginning was about Iraqi oil revenues compensating our efforts should we launch an assault on Hussein, thus approval for the war included the Democrats.

Now that the war is in the category of VICTORY after all the talking down of the war in Iraq specifically by all the Democrats, they HATE BUSH EVEN MORE. To allow the Iraqi oil to be awarded without bid to Western oil interests (1 American) further puts salt in their BDS wounds.

Bush would not only get credit for the Victory, but also the original pact including compensation by Iraqi oil.

The Iraqi oil IMO won’t lessen our pump price in the near future, but will compensate somewhat our expenditures in this war.

I’m certain there are other opinions out there, but I think the childish Democrats are throwing a snit-fit because every Wile E. Coyote stunt they have pulled has ended with similar Wile E. Coyote results. Quite like Pinky and The Brain if you will.

You’re right. There was never real unity after 9/11. All the Rats wanted to do was see how they could use the terrorist attacks against President Bush.

"They can legislate anything they want..."

All they can do is make it difficult for an American company. The remainder of the world and Iraq is none of the Senate's business.

The trick here is that Sen. Schumer and the left in general do not view Iraq as a sovereign country. They figure this is being done at the behest of “Big Oil”, whom they presume also gives President Bush his marching orders as well.

They're only five out of thirty five. Do the other thirty also get the no bid deal? I hope not.

Anything to keep gas prices high until November. This should make people angry.

When history has already taught us that democrat plans lead to disaster, why are so many Americans embracing them???

Because democrats always promise to give simple-minded and uninformed voters something for nothing. They buy votes with your tax money through give-away programs.

Bringing it down to a familiar level, is it easier to win a kid's favor by giving him unhealthy candy and promising more, or teaching him to forgo momentary pleasure through self-discipline? Unfortunately, us mean old conservatives are always portrayed as wanting to deprive the kiddies of their candy. Self control and discipline have become foreign concepts in America, replaced by the Sixties mantra: If it feels good, do it.

"The Rats want another Civil War in the US because they feel it will weaken the US to such an extent that it becomes a total Universal society with everyone from Africa to China taking over our infrastructure. They want the US to become the World’s Welfare Child."

It seems that that is the direction our country is headed. The Left has done an excellent job of dividing the American people along some fundamental political and social issues since the 1960s. They use the news media, the entertainment media and other outlets to continually harange, accuse and belittle anyone who disagrees with their agenda. Any and all of traditional America is a target. Frankly, I don't see how the country can hold together much longer. People are fed up with having to tolerate their attacks. The tipping point is approaching.
