Barry smeared his uncle when he tried to draw a link between his experience at a death camp liberation and post traumatic stress disorder (living in the attic).

He thought he could toss out a few statements and be done with it. He didn’t actually want to debate the issue, just tarnish the troops.

Well, he said his great uncle was confined to the attic for six months after he returned home.

We all know about those attic people. Something like Rochester’s first wife in Jane Eyre. Not Obama’s fault if he believed everything his great uncle said when he was a little kid and his great uncle was still suffering from the aftereffects of the War. He should fire his fact-checkers and speech writers for not catching it.

What, Obama wasn’t even born until 1961, and his great uncle must have returned home by 1945? Well, it must have been someone else who got the story wrong, then. Throw them under the bus.

Oh, he already has, hasn’t he? It must have been that evil, racist white grandmother who did it.

Someone in Kansas needs to go to county clerks office in county which Augusta is in and check this out.

I suspect the phone at the Butler County courthouse is already ringing. If anyone is in the area, the address follows for a little public-records digging. Don't be surprised, though, if older records are in some sort of limited-access storage facility offsite. This could take the better part of a day to run down.

Here' 'tis:

Butler County Courhouse
205 West Central
El Dorado, KS 67042
Phone: (316) 322-4300

Here's a photo of Obamer's uncle's moon voyage.

I'm going to be CRYING "UNCLE" before we get to election day.

One way or the other, he has an “out”. He can simply say, “Well, it was a family story. That’s what I was always told. If it’s inaccurate then the family lied to me.”

Exactly. Or, he could pin it directly on his uncle, the lying rat that he (Obama) is.

"Well, my uncle was known for spinning some pretty good yarns in his day."

Maybe he has his “uncle” confused with “Uncle” Rev. Wright.

I would be hesistant to combine the two figures. He says that his grandfather enlisted immediately after Pearl Harbor.

So what was his grandfather’s name (mother’s father, his father’s father was a Catholic in Kenya who converted to Islam).

For me, it's not so outrageous that he's a liar (which he is, of course), but it's that he is so stupid to think that he can get away with it.

No matter how many stories he tells, none will compare to the military service of John McCain.

Is this anything like recollections of burning churches in Arkansas back in the 1950’s and 1960’s?

A really good fabrication has just enough elements of what MIGHT be the truth, to avoid being debunked immediately.

However, credulity is strained, when there is even the hint of misstatement of fact, as in the liberation of Auschwitz.

No Americans were involved with this humanitarian deed.

Except that if you are a candidate running for President of the United States, you should be expected to verify that such stories are factual before incorporating them into a campaign speech for all the world to hear.

In my opinion, the issue is such because he took the time on Memorial Day, a day that should be APOLITICAL, to make an attack on the administration and use a contrived story to make his point.

He deserves all the grief we can give him, and more.

This hideous, empty-headed, dissembling POS was using “a family legend” involving the holocaust and military service to make political points on a sacred day to honor our war dead. How convenient, a “family legend” that can be made up and disowned as such if he is ever called on it, which is exactly what happened.

If they had rails and people to run them, he would be out of town if there were any justice. He has no shame, and the liberals have no shame.

Sandy Berger will find those records for you.

Not that it matters much. Obama could have whipped out a machine gun and fired at the crowd while shouting "DIE, YOU LOUSY JEW BASTARDS!!!" and it wouldn't have cost him a single vote.

One thing I will say. If it turns out that Obama completely made this story up and he was caught, I know what the explanation will be: “Well, uncle Chuck and others told this story so many times, I believed it was true.”

Reminds me of the defense that the Lefties at Snopes used for Hillary for years.

http://www.snopes.com/politics/clintons/hillary.asp

We opined back in 2003 that Hillary Clinton's claim about being Edmund Hillary's namesake might not have been completely false since she didn't say she was actually named for the mountain climber, but rather that her mother told her she was named for him — a minor but important distinction given how often parents make up harmless little fibs to amuse their children or misremember past events. Indeed, in October 2006 this was the excuse a spokesperson for her campaign provided in officially discounting the story:
For more than a decade, one piece of Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton's informal biography has been that she was named for Sir Edmund Hillary, the conqueror of Mount Everest. The story was even recounted in Bill Clinton's autobiography.

But yesterday, Mrs. Clinton's campaign said she was not named for Sir Edmund after all.

"It was a sweet family story her mother shared to inspire greatness in her daughter, to great results I might add," said Jennifer Hanley, a spokeswoman for the campaign. 3
We still find this explanation rather incredible. In order to accept it, one has to believe that only after Hillary Clinton was nearly 60 years old, and only after she had been pilloried in the press for more than ten years for claiming she had been named after someone who was virtually unknown in the U.S. at the time of her birth, and only after her husband had unknowingly presented the fictitious story as true in his own autobiography, did her mother finally confess that the "sweet family story" she told her daughter wasn't the truth. (Hillary Clinton doesn't have the excuse that other people were spreading a falsehood about her, as she herself was the one who initiated the claim back in 1995.)

As we noted back in 2003, this story was likely a little white lie concocted for a special occasion back in 1995, and even if it really was a "sweet family story" Dorothy Rodham told her daughter Hillary many years ago, the latter has almost certainly known for quite a long time that it was just a story.

Could it be that his Navy uncle was a medic serving with the Marines and thusly could have been in Europe?

Marine units did serve in the European Theatre, but generally only as part of landing parties or as gunners on Navy ships. To my knowledge, no Marine unit served east of the Seine.

Barry said that his uncle served in the U.S. Army, as I recall.

We’ve gone from President George Washington who couldn’t tell a lie to Presidential wannabe Barack Obama who can’t tell the truth.

Right. But McCain is a "warmonger" and Bush is a "Chickenhawk". Only Obama has just the right amount of family military history.
