81 protesters arrested at Supreme Court
Fri Jan 11, 3:56 PM ET

WASHINGTON - Eighty people were arrested at the Supreme Court Friday in a protest calling for the shutdown of the U.S. military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

Demonstrators wearing orange jump suits intended to simulate prison garb were arrested inside and outside the building in the early afternoon. "Shut it down," protesters chanted as others kneeled on the plaza in front of the court.

They were charged with violating an ordinance that prohibits demonstrations of any kind on court grounds. Those arrested inside the building also were charged under a provision that makes it a crime to give "a harangue or oration" in the Supreme Court building.

The maximum penalty is 60 days in jail, a fine or both.

The court is considering whether prisoners still detained at Guantanamo Bay have a right to challenge their confinement in U.S. courts.

Officials briefly closed the court building during the protest. It reopened around 2 p.m. EST.

I don’t know why they bother arresting the losers - I bet not a single one is convicted...

Yah, Bet they get let off with nothing.

Send 'em to Gitmo, one per Muslim cell. Rinse & repeat.

THEN record their story upon release.

How pathetic... they took the time to get all costumed up and couldn’t even draw casual spectators, much less any support for their senseless cause.

There are times I’m ashamed to say I share citizenship with people like this.

But it is their right to kneel there and be total, flaming idiots. Go ahead, protest the imprisonment of foreign combatants that have no rights under our Constitution. Protest keeping people who want to kill us within arms reach. Protest a world that stays at peace because our boys fight and capture some of the bad guys and instead of putting bullets in all their heads... they send them to a prison that treats them with kid gloves.

Idiots. Will they ever grow up and face the real world with the adults?

What is the legal penalty for executing people who are in the process treason?

GRRRR, I can not type anything coherent!

If I ever witness such a thing personally, I would execute them myself. I do not give a darn what the laws are.

Well, you know, they were already dressed for prison, so why not?

They say a man should always dress for the job he wants.
So why am I dressed up like a pirate in this restaurant?
It's all because some hacker stole my identity.
Now I'm in here every evenin' servin' chowder and iced tea.

Should've gone to FreeCreditReport.com (yee haw!).
I could've seen this comin' at me like an atom bomb.
They monitor your credit and send you email alerts,
so you don't end sellin' fish to tourists in t-shirts.

The point is, these people have dressed for the job they want so waterboard them. Like you know at the Six flags on a hot day, the water log ride line is always the longest, these guys are standing in the waterboarding ride line.

Water boarding is done when the water boardee knows something you need to know.

These putzes don't know anything between them.

Didn’t the Congress remove SCOTUS jurisdiction in this area? If so how can the court ignore the Congress?

I cannot feel for their cause, but being arrested for demonstrating the government at the US Supreme Court smacks of a whole lot of irony. How is it possible for our current crop of "representatives" to have gotten the spirit of the US so bass ackwards?
