UK Citizens Abandoning the UK in Greater Numbers
July 25, 2007 - Press Dispensary - Increasing numbers of people are taking the decision to move overseas as a result of the UK’s current immigration policy, according to www.globalvisas.com, a specialist immigration consultancy that provides immigration advice and visa services.
As numbers of immigrants to the UK from the new European Union Accession states continue to grow, more and more people in the UK are choosing to take their experience and skills overseas.
The consultancy caters for immigrants to the UK as well as British people who wish to emigrate to the USA, Australia, New Zealand, Canada or South Africa. After more than 12 years in its field, the company has recorded an increase in the number of non-EU and low skilled EU A8 citizens coming to the UK over recent years, and is now seeing a dramatic increase in British people applying to leave the UK.
Director Liam Clifford says: "Since January 2007, we have recorded an 80% rise in British nationals applying to move overseas. As this rise continues, so does the number of enquiries we receive from people asking for help in migrating to a new country. In recent months, we have received as many as 4,000 requests in a single week from people who have had enough of Britain and want to get out."
He adds: "Ironically, the main reason for these people leaving the UK is the over-stretching of services caused by inbound immigration to the UK. We are aware of the issue of so-called ‘white flight’ from certain inner city areas to the suburbs but now people are increasingly seeking a better standard of living offered by other countries.
"This phenomenon adds to the existing shortage of skilled workers already faced by the UK as they leave only to be replaced by low skilled EU A8 workers or low skilled refugees."

I think we live in an age of global mass migration now. The people that I know who are leaving the UK are doing so simply because they can afford better housing in places such as Australia. They don’t have any problems with all the new Eastern Europeans moving to the UK.
Yeah and the former US city of Miami. Was down there in Florida last year and went into a major cellular retail store and could not conduct business because I did not speak spanish. I kid you not!
We must be witnessing the future of the US. No one wants to stay where they are being overrun by immigrants.

I know my experiences there can't be applied to illegal immigration here (Polish and Czech citizens can legally live and work in Ireland) but I wonder how bad it can be in the UK with citizens of newly admitted EU countries.
I recently met a lady from Britain who immigrated here about 8 yrs ago. She just got back from a trip to visit family and said......wow, she will never go back. Her sister is trying to immigrate to Australia now for the same reasons.
They are fed up.
And I bet nobody ever asked the Brits if they wanted that level of immigration. I know nobody ever asked ME if I wanted LA to turn into Tijuana North.
I know several folks that traded up also.
My acquaintances just moved to a different neighborhood though.

The UK compounds the problem of unchecked muslim immigration by not allowing firearms in the hands of citizens so they can protect themselves from the rampant crime wave engulfing Britain. Lots of good stuff to see as a tourist, but your risking your life setting foot in the place.
Most immigration to the UK is from catholic Eastern European countries. Proportionate to the US, our immigration levels are still quite low. For example, we have never had shop telephone services offering foreign language options (like with Spanish in the US). I’m (reasonably) smart and have the means to the leave the UK, but I have no intention of doing so. Good luck to people emigrating to places such as Spain and Australia and New Zealand-but they are doing it for the sun and financial reasons. It would hardly be patriotic to leave your country because immigration to Britain has increased (relatively) in recent years. If people were leaving for those sorts of reasons, you’d have to question their loyalty and worth to the UK anyway.

Well, British people have a history of moving to other Commonwealth countries for a better standard of living. In the 1960s many left for Australia. The standard of living in the UK is often lower than these countries. But I’m proud to be British and will never my country.
Nothing happens in politics that is not foreseen and intended, so this is what the immigration “policy” seeks to bring about - a replacement of the white brits by head-choppers.
The white brits can come here. Better to add a few lily-livered politically-correct wimps than head choppers.

I’m sorry to hear that. Did she say why she was fed up? Admittedly, the standard of living is much higher in places such as Australia than in the UK and has been for many, many decades. A very small property in the UK will cost the same as a large one in places such as the US and Australia. However, I’m very proud to be British and wouldn’t ever leave my country.
Plus, in a general sense, if immigration is apparently forcing British people to up sticks then why are so many of them moving to places such as Canada, France and Spain who, have bigger immigrant populations than the UK?
Ironically immigration is leading to emmigration.

From Germany in 2004...almost 150,000 left. Stat’s show 2005 at least that much if not more. The gov’t is readily putting 2006 numbers but some believe they are in the 175,000 range. In the fifteen years after reunification....1.8 million have left. This is out of 80 million total Germans.
The best guess between now and 2015...at least 1.5 million will leave the country. The key things are...these are all Germans under the age of 50....and they aren’t returning. In 2005 alone...the gov’t had to admit that 5,000 doctors packed and left...which aren’t easily replaced. The chief reason given, is the state-run healthcare system which mandates what a doctor can be paid.
When you examine the cost of living...there simply isn’t a way for a guy to live off $14k a year, which is what most pension folks are receiving in social security per year. They won’t allow a 401K or IRA deal...because they can’t possibly offer tax credits like the US gov’t. And they can’t cut the German budget because of gov’t mandated programs and manpower. To stay...is simply a lose-lose situation.

It would very much depend on where she visted then. The Muslim population of the UK is only 2-3%. However, they ghettoise. So where in vast swathes of the country (such as where I live) there are very, very few Muslims to none at all, if your aquaintance has visited inner Birmingham there will have been very many immigrants. Part of the problem is that the UK has always had very few immigrants and now, in this global age, their numbers have increased. However, many are hard working and the non-white population of the UK is still only 8.5%

Firstly, you refer to immigrants to the UK as ‘filthy Asians’. This is quite rascist. Many Asians families have been in the UK since the 1970s and many are hard working and loyal. Secondly, the number of Asians moving to the UK is far smaller than the number of Eastern Europeans coming here. The UK has never been ‘flooded’ with immigrants. I visited Florida a few years back and didn’t meet a non-hispanic for two weeks. Mexican immigration into the US is on a proportionate scale far larger than immigration to the UK. I heard that in about 10-15 years, 25% of the entire US population will be hispanic.
In 2001, only 8.5% of the UK population was non-white. If, in this global age of mass migration UK citizens want to abandon their country beacuse a few more people have come here wanting a better life then you have to question their sense of perspective and, yes, loyalty to the UK.
Britain faced a far bigger threat from its Irish community during the Troubles. Presumably, you would have supported white emigration away from the UK then as well?
We are moving into a new world folks, whether you like it or not.
Britons have been fleeing the British Isles in large numbers for almost four centuries. (their descendants make up a huge portion of the American, Canadian, Australian, and New Zealand population, and a fair amount of the South African and several Caribbean states’ populations). They have a large population on a couple of [big] islands (more big island now that the Republic of Ireland is independent), and their weather usually isn’t considered ideal by humans.
Lots of my English and Scottish colleagues have parents/older relatives who have retired to Spain and Portugal. If they are younger and looking for an "Anglo-Celtic" culture, Australia would be a better bet than the UK. Folks don't realize but Americans of English descent are a small minority of the US population as a whole, and the white population in aggregate. There are more people of German, Irish, and Italian ancestry in the U.S. than English.
BTW: I have more East Indians within a five mile radius of my house than anyplace in London. Don't have a problem with any of them.

We pay for our healthcare, but we dont give money directly to the NHS hospitals. If we choose to go to a private healthcare organisation, the costs are payed as in the US. But we still make compulsory payments to the NHS.
