  The debate will take place at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California, and will air live on MSNBC from 8:00 to 9:30 pm (ET) and stream live on MSNBC.com and politico.com and will include audience questions gathered on politico.com.

Just my initial impressions, but Romney and Hunter were the big winners. Rudy and McCain were slight losers. The rest lose by default, because they needed to win.

Good analysis. Brilliant even. Maybe just because those are my conclusions.

You'd better be careful. PMSNBC might read your comments, hire you, and then you'd have to spend the next year and a half talking politics with Chrissy Matthews and Keith Obertroll.

I like Ron Paul as an intellectual force. In Congress or the Senate he may bring more pluses than minuses. In the Executive branch I wonder. Maybe he could be Governor of a small state. President? I doubt it.

What a debate joke. Could have been one and only one question asked: How do we change all the evil that Republicans have done to America and the world???

LOL, some of the questions were so inane that the candidates could only laugh. I kept waiting for someone to take a shot at Mathews, it would have been so easy.

Another good reason, out of so many good reasons, to nominate the most conservative Republican candidate we can and unite to defeat the DemoRats once again!!

• Sam Brownback - Sounds good as a team player, but didn't come off as a leader.
• Jim Gilmore - Very well spoken, but didn't display a reason to move him out of the second tier.
• Rudy Giuliani - Horrible! Made a complete ass of himself. He'll see a dip in the polls based on this performance.
• Mike Huckabee - Very good, but again, nothing to elevate him to 1st tier.
• Duncan Hunter - Did nothing for me. I was expecting the most out of Duncan, but he didn't deliver for me. He looked constipated.
• John McCain - Was struggling for breath, but said the right things. He looked old and not well. He did, however, pander to conservatives. IMHO, he was the winner here.
• Mitt Romney - Came off like he was trying to sell us a yugo. He does have a good sense of humor, but even his tan was too slick.
• Ron Paul - Our Dennis Kucinich
• Tom Tancredo - By the time he got comfortable enough, the debate was almost over. I liked his answers more than I thought I would though.
• Tommy Thompson - Horrid...not a fan. Some 'conservative' with his communist policy ideas for Iraq!

  Fred was smart not to get involved in this circus. The questions from 'the politico' were pathetic and they should be ashamed of themselves.

At the very least, every candidate in the debates MUST be required to commit their support for whoever the GOP nominates, period.

Personally, I think any candidate who commits to support Rudy if he's the nominee is unfit for the job.

The Corner pointed out that tonight he claimed to have always been personally pro life.

His own past statements don’t bear that out. I don’t know for sure when he switched. He does say he is prolife now.
