Joe Scarborough pronounces Romney the winner...says that’s the mood of the room he’s in, and of the emails he’s received.

Reading many of the posts on this thread proves that these TV debates are nothing more than a giant Rorschach inkblot test.

Thompson underestimated the number of WIA by a factor of at least 8. You should find another candidate.

What is WIA?

I was impressed by point Ron Paul made, we survived an era with 40,000 Soviet nuclear weapons pointed at us with capable rocket technology and here we are threatening to go into ANOTHER preemptive war over a third-world nation that doesn’t even have any nukes and more importantly any capability to weaponize and launch anything more than 50 miles.

I agree. I also liked Gilmore and Hunter. Romney clearly has the most presidential appearance.

I didn’t say I’d vote for the winner. I’ll vote my conscience, and I said I’d vote for Thompson if choosing from the left. I’m voting for the right wing, not the left wing.

ANd that would be who? Certainly not Ron Paul.

Your inignation is unbecoming! I am merely pointing out that one name, (Schiavo) is/was about a true living human and the other name (Schindler)was about inconsequential Hollywood non sense.
I totally supported this woman’s right to life with many phone calls and letters to Congress at the time! I was heartened when President Bush returned from vacation in attempt to save her.
You presume WAY too much, my Friend!

I can’t say I agree with you at all. Romney comes across as the consummate business executive and family man. So many of his answers have an economic theme to them. Time and time he’s shown he understands the way businesses work and the way the legal system works. He’s by far the most competent politician I’ve seen in a long time, and he’s got the record and the speaking skills to pull it off. Washington could seriously use a big dose of Wall Street about now.

That said, Thompson’s strength is in his firmness, his bulldoggish straightforwardness. He’s a very affirming character. If he wasn’t so eloquent and on his toes, he’d fall into trouble by being compared to Bush. I think he’ll escape that more than okay. I think Americans are tired of Bush’s stubborness and (more than that) his unwillingness to explain himself thoroughly. Thompson has a way of getting his points across.

Right now I’m going to stick by my earlier belief:

Romney > Fred >>>>>>Anyone else. But I’m very interested in seeing them debate. And I think either would make an excellent candidate, and both can (and IMHO WILL) defeat the Rats.

Can anyone explain the voting so far on Drudge?

I don't get MSNBC in my cable package and so I didn't see the debate. When I went to Drudge's site I saw the poll and assumed "Thompson" was FRED Thompson. After reading the debate article I realized that Fred wouldn't be a participant since he hasn't declared.

I would bet that many others assumed "Thompson" was FRED. Just a few minutes ago I noticed Drudge updated the poll to read "Tommy Thompson".

And the winners were (IMO) in order: Romney Tancredo Paul

I agree on Mitt. While I like Tancredo he stammers and is not a great speaker. I tought Brownback and Hunter were much better in that regard. Paul is a dingbat. He would not pardon Libby because he was in an administration that got us into Iraq?? What kind of logic is that?

I liked when Matthews asked Hunter what the federal government does well, and he replied “putting precision munitions on Zarqawi’s house”.

I think Hunter did excellent in this debate.

“You’ve gotta be kidding me,” and the “Gang of Three”.

Romney looks a lot more palatable to me now. He and Hunter were the winners of this debate.
