Paul is a libertarian.

Weren't they supposed to be Republicans?

I like Fred.

But I was impressed again with Romney. Romney was very good tonight.

And for a guy that’s an unknown to most, Gilmore actually did OK. Huckabee spoke well. Hopefully this debate will end the Ron Paul fascination.

This would be fun for EVERYBODY-— if everybody tried to think of the best quote they could from tonight and post them (without looking at a transcript) to see what stuck.

I think Rush should ask questions for the Dem debate!
Mark Steyn
No. I want The Great One, Doctor Levin... I want to see blood on the stage after it's over.

That would be a head exploder for certain sure!

No suprise at all to those of us who know Mitt. He’s a very good at debates, very charismatic. How do you think he’s managed to raise so much money so far. He’s great at charming the groups who he speaks to.

The candidates clarified that THEY thought Matthews was asking about a tamper proof id card for guest workers, NOT a national id card for American citizens. It was Matthews who confused the issue. So if they said yes to a tamper proof id, they weren’t talking about what you seem to think they were.

That’s nice.

Rooty is a liberal. If he ran as a Democrat, he wouldn’t have to go around lying about his lifelong support for liberal issues and liberal causes.

Rooty is persona non grata.

I doubt very many would share your opinion.

You are probably right.

Of the declared candidates I love Duncan Hunter and Mitt Romney. Hunter shined. Romney did well, but seemed drowned out. McCain, who this site loathes and I usually do to seemed in command. Not a popular position, I'm sure.

Agree: Romney and Hunter were consistently strong tonight.

McCain and Rudy were hurt.

What I did not like is the fact these candidates let the moderator bash the war & Bush without anyone, except for Rudy to some extent and that’s terrible.

MSNBC is concentrating on how the candidates distanced themselves from Bush. As usual, it’s all about tearing down Bush. They are absolutely obsessed with destroying him.

LIFE, Liberty ...

Amendment V

No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a grand jury, ... nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; ...

Amendment VI

In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the state and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the assistance of counsel for his defense.

So you speak against the Bill Of Rights! They are our charter against Federal, against any governmental oppression of those States who joined our Union!

What fantasy of federalism do you harbor in some unlit darkness of soul?

Terri's own words -- as they were likely falsely remembered in the weakest of hearsay -- were used against her. Nor did she have Jury.

And her capital crime? Being married to a murderous cur and held in a state under forces dedicated to the early demise of the pauper infirm.

I think there was just too many people. When it gets down to 3-4 people in debates.. it will be much easier to see the man. 30-60 sound bytes show very very little. everything is so rushed.

Do you know which candidate said we should err on the side of life, when talking about Terri?

Duncan Hunter.
