Prayers offered, newbie. I feel a special kinship with your mom, as dear husband and I are in nearly the same situation.
Our kids have helped out immeasurably, with the practical stuff, like mowing the lawn, planting the bulbs we bought earlier (before knowing how sick Hub is), babysitting the house when we are at the hospital and workmen come, raking the mulch on, changing light bulbs, making sure the trash is set out, the whole nine yards. Stuff Hub used to do.

You and your family will be in our prayers. This is a tough valley you all are walking through now - keep your eyes on the distant hills and your faith.
Take good care of Mom.

It takes a lot of strength to handle the tough things that life throws our way. We aren't given much choice. Frankly, I've wondered many years ago if Purgatory is actually our life on earth, but that's another subject.
I'm so sorry for your husband's illness. Thankfully your children are present to help both of you. So many parents have children living in different parts of the country. They are not on hand to ease the burden.
I can only hope that God chooses to heal your husband, newbie's Dad, and all the other people who have serious illnesses.

How comforting, O Lord, in the midst of physical pain and anguish, to be mindful that the end of mortal life is the beginning of life eternal. Yet we would ask that the days for newbie’s beloved Dad and Judith’s beloved husband would be increased, that there would be many more days in which to Praise Your Holy Name.
Grant wisdom and guidance to the medical teams ... send each manner of treatment on its course to render totally harmless all traces of disease. As much as man has been gifted with knowledge, You, alone, are the Great Physician, and it is by You, and You, alone, that life begins and ends.
“In His hand is the life of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind.” Job 12:10.
Merciful Father, we seek Your blessings of goodness and mercy and faith and encouragement and comfort upon these families, to the everlasting Glory and Honor of Your Name.
Hear our prayer, O Lord ...
Hear our prayer, O Lord ...
Incline thine ear to us
And grant us thy peace. Amen ...
