I'm trying to find info on lefty darling Jesselyn Radack for a course in my Master's program. So far, the only story of events I have been able to find is the one where she tries to stop the FBI interrogation of Johnny Taliban because he already has a lawyer (that being her side of the story).
When the FBI interrogates him anyway, she tries to show the court that Chertoff ignored her emails to him about the breach of procedure. She then discovers that critical emails are missing.
She gets them restored from backup and presents them to the court, only to have her boss present her with a blistering performance review (despite her receiving a merit raise earlier in the year), telling her to leave or the review becomes official. She resigns rather than get the review, but keeps trying to show the court trying Lindh that Lindh was interrogated despite having legal counsel.
When this fails, and she believes she is being censored, she leaks her email collection to Newsweek, prompting calls for her disbarrment, also prompting the DOJ to contact her current employer and reveal her past to them, whereupon they fire her. She is also put on the no-fly list.
This whole episode (based on her account) has made her a celebrity for the left. Nearly all the links/articles I could find are from DU, Kos, plus numerous other "progressive" organizations using her situation to trumpet the perfidy of "BushCo". I suppose even a blind squirrel can find a nut once in a while, but I have a hard time believing that this is the whole story.
Google had over 15,00 hits........
Yeah, but look at where they are all from: Kos, DU, Mother Jones etc etc. The lefty community considers Radack only slightly less important than Mother Sheehan (Radack has even spoken at several of Sheehan's "events").
I guess I should have been a bit clearer. I meant that facts other than her side of the story are thin on the ground. Her version is everywhere, but I was only able to find one conservative site with any reference to her (Volokh). Even the articles on the law sites seem to be puff pieces (law.com describes her as a "martyr"). I want to see if there is another side to this story, and FreeRepublic seems to be the only place with the willingness to reveal the true face of "martyrs" like Radack.
Important if true, since it seems to show heavy pressures being brought to bear to keep Lindh from using his right to counsel -- a violation of 18 USC 241 and a federal felony.
This may be a case where having a Democrat-controlled Congress will do some good, if they're willing to look into it. Maybe it's just the Left spouting off but it does need to be looked into.
I've never heard of this person before but it is not unlawful to question anyone just because he/she has an attorney. This person is just trying to grandstand and make a name for herself.
Seems like much ado about nothing.
You have FReepmail.
I'm a little shakey on this but I'm pretty sure it is, unless the suspect has consented. If Lindh did, then it ought to be easy for the government to prove; otherwise, they risked having all the evidence gained by questioning him thrown out. They must have some proof of consent, if consent was given.
He's in prison and I have heard nothing about appeals. That's proof enough for me.
