The KKK ALSO uses the Stars and Stripes as well as the Stars and Bars.

Leftists like to remind us the US flag has flown over more atrocities against humanity than any other nation's banner(other than the Nazis)

Should someone who is offended by the US flag and uses this line of arguement be rewarded by removing Old Glory?

Please try and be consistent.

That being said the Confederate flag cannot be a symbol of hate.

Fact is, you can show the "Stars and Bars" these days, the official flag of the Confederacy, but you cannot show the "Battle Flag" because it has been successfully demonized. It is not about the flags being a symbol of hate from the war. It is a symbol of hate because the haters (Politically Correct Scheisters like Jesse and Al) have used it to symbolize their hateful agenda.

I am consistent.

Yes The KKK has used The Stars and Stripes, but only to prove their "patriotism" and to demand that they be allowed to exercise their 1st amendment rights as well.

Are we to allow evil people to do as they wish to protect their rights, while they walk all over the rights of others by attempting to strike fear in those they hate?

I'm always the lil dictator...

Seriously, I gave up defending the Confederate Flag for two reasons, One because all the crimes commited by those that carried it, and two because it is a symbol of the democrats' rebellion against a republican admistration.

Yep, let's just remember that we worship a relic from the 1700's the next time we discuss the Constitution.

Such relics should be outlawed, or at best banned on city property.

Don't you agree?

Oh, let's get rid of that racist American Flag. The flag of the nation that was founded with Slavery firmly in place.

"He works for the city, parks in a city parking lot, and thus represents them. They deserve a say in what he puts on the car he uses for work.

The courts have ruled on the side of free speech as the piece has stated the following: " the courts have recognized he had a First Amendment right to display the Confederate flag as a reflection of his Southern heritage and traditions that he viewed as important."

"Clearly this man had no case, and the city just wanted it to go away."

Clearly you have NOT read the entire article as he certainly DID have a case, and the courts have ruled in his favor.

Florida does not offer an SCV license plate, but there is a proposal for one.

Florida started the vanity plate thing with the '86 Challenger plates. Other states picked it up as a source of revenue.

Support of NAACP, support of big government control, and dishonoring American Civil War veterans. Never thought I would see that on a conservative forum.

Neither the Republican nor the Democrat parties are anything like they were back then. They have wholely changed their party stance to the point that they cannot be construed now as what they were then. In fact they have almost switched places.

"He wasn't denied his 1st Amendment Rights, he wasn't allowed to exercise them in his workplace during the time he was supposed to be working."

He wasn't allowed to exercise his free speech rights by the use of a license plate on his truck. He did not use company time to spout off in the workplace. Big difference. You are just defending the employer because it was a confederate flag and not the Gadsden flag or some other "relic of the past."

"Unlike the American revolution, the South did not list any grievances except they did not like they idea that slavery was going to be limited by the incoming Republican Party."

Wrong. Think about that statement. There were a lot of grievances, that one is the one people remember (and rightly so). Read a book.

Yeah so?

I could if I wanted defend the Confederate Flag better then any of it's defenders on this board, because I have a sure fire argument defending it that almost none of you have heard.

Instead I've reached the conclusion that the only ones that have a right to defend it are those that have most recently used it in their political terror plans or in otherwords, the Democrats.

Those democrat sons of the south that died for it are long dead and buried, empty memories and their voices stilled by the very passage of time.

As republicans You honor men that if the civil war were being fought today would gladly kill you for holding your views, that's a bitter pill to swallow, I know but it is more true then any of you will ever admit to.

I've never been to the DU so I wouldn't know what you are talking about.

Do they regularly blast the Democrats for being racists, bigots and murderers there?

If the PC crowd gets away with outlawing the Confederate Battle Flag that is displayed by ancestors of those men, then where will the line be drawn.

It's easy to nazify an entire culture of this nation that you don't like, but when you do things like this it opens the door to censor more American symbols down the road when they also become inconvenient or 'offensive'.
