Its Rodney King all over again. When the police are prohibited from protecting the citizens by politicians ignorance or fear, then their next move is to make it impossible to protect your family and home by taking away their ability to defend themselves.Idiots!

"Four million NRA members intend to stop this unconstitutional power grab." And let's work to make it 8 million next year....

I really don't care at all what the "Government"...state , local, or federal says....
It has been amply demonstrated that the "government" hasn't been able to protect law abiding citizens in New Orleans from death, rape, robbery etc.......(among other debacles)....
therefore, I will keep my guns and fight to the death with anyone trying to take them......
Have a great day
Thank you.

I was wondering if and when the NRA would rouse from their slumber on this...

For indexing and searching purposes the title of this as assigned by the NRA is, "Disaster Can’t Destroy Gun Rights."

The solution is simple. The pigs who obey illegal orders show up at your house, you ask to see their warrant. Don't worry, they won't have one. You reply "See ya later!" and close & lock the door in their faces.
If the JBT's try to break down the door, you are in clear and present danger from criminal home invaders. Commence Firing! Fire at will.

I guess it is time, I have always refused to put my name on a list of gun owners. Although last week I bought another hand gun here in Texas.
I had previously taken and passed my C&C classes but refused to do all the paperwork just to get my name on a list of gun owners, even here in Texas.
I am now on the list of handgun owners so I guess I should go all the way and support the NRA and get on their list also.
What the gun grabbers did in NO was expected, so I am not surprised.
I am also not going to be surprised when it comes to a neighborhood near me.
You should not be either.

I have been a member of the NRA for years. I live in Maryland where we have some of the most restrictive gun laws in the nation. I have seen VERY little the NRA has done to help us here. I do sometimes wonder what they really do! Are they like other "activist" groups who I see as their goal is to collect dues to pay for their bureaucracy? I have never been able to find just how much they spend on fighting for our gun rights. Does anyone agree with any of this?

There's a lesson to be learned here. If you're involved in a natural disaster you have to take the initiative to protect the right to defend your property. If that means hiding your weapons from the authorities to keep them then so be it. It's a shame it has to come to that.

The NRA will fight their battle in the courts. Don't give up on them. There was nothing they could do in the face of the gun grabbers in NO that would have provided immediate relief. I'm a 2 year member of the NRA. This incident has convinced me to become a lifetime member.

Can someone explain how they are doing this? Are they just knocking on doors and saying 'give us your guns'? Are they searching homes? Are they accosting people on the streets? Are people just willing giving them up like sheep without any warrants/orders/compensation? Guns are worth a lot of money, and may be some of the few things of value these people have left. Are people going to get them back at some point, and how? I'm just having trouble picturing this situation.

that's everybody's first reaction, of course. But what complicates this is the madatory evacuation. They come to your house, say you have to come with them and you can't bring your guns. What are you supposed to do? Sure, you can hide them in your home, but then you get shipped off to some shelter in a different city with no protection and probably no means to buy more. A lot of good your guns do you hundreds of miles away in a condemned city.
