Cheney in 2008? Does anyone really believe this?
Aspen Times ^ | 8-10-05 | Catherine Lutz

Posted on 08/10/2005 12:42:51 PM PDT by joyspring777

Bob Woodward's half-hour talk, punctuated several times by well-received jokes, was followed by 11 questions from the audience. He theorized that Hillary Clinton would earn the Democratic nomination in 2008 and would run against Dick Cheney

The only thing Cheney is running for in 08 is his ranch. Woodward is an idiot.

Even if he has no intention to run, he should file, start a Cheney2008 website, and then we can get onto the business of a very enjoyable Helen Thomas suicide watch.

How about them moving to Maryland and picking apart Barb Mikulski?

What an awful picture though. Who would want to get close enough?

Much as I'd like to see it, it would kill him. Look at how much Carter aged in one term (badly), Clinton in two terms (noticeable) and the same thing for Bush. Carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders is a heavy burden.

Reagan looked pretty good. I think Bush will look pretty good because they weren't/aren't consumed by evil.

Cheney to me is too much of a sour puss to hold the presidency. Today...a fine measure of charisma MUST go along with leadership and conviction. Cheney does not have charisma.

Maybe you should vote for Spongebob Squarepants.

Over the hill Past his prime

If it weren't for Mark Felt, he would be totally out to pasture!

He should look to RUDY...he is running...and will win.

Be prepared to get flamed for that one. I get it all the time! LOL

Well, Clinton DID age from 46-54 during his Presidency, those years start to show on everyone I've known. I'm sure the job had something to do with it, but it's hardly all.

I agree that Cheney won't and probably shouldn't run, but he's so calm and knowledgable, I don't think the job would kill him.

I think a Rove/Rice ticket would be great fun in '08, just to watch all the heads explode on the left.

Cheney is an excellent choice borne of wisdom, class, and experience. Widely read and educated on foreign and domestic issues. Not a showboater but doggedly deliberate--he is perfect for the position.

But he may be unelectable to the post. He is simply overqualified and for that the American electorate would not forgive.

You're right about the age time frame. The best example is Carter, hell, he looks worse than Robert Redford and that was in 1980.

The Buchanan wing of the Republican party is gonna' have to take it and accept the fact that, as of now, Rudy can have the Presidency, if he wants it.

There is a large group of people - the middle-roaders - who are socially liberal. They aren't comfortable with Hillary's politics, but respect and can go for Rudy.

Rudy may run, but he won't win the nomination.

He's popular with liberal republicans and many democrats, but he does not have enough support in the Republican party to get the nomination.
