This memo seeks to clarify several misconceptions that have been circulating throughout the media in the case of Terri Schindler-Schiavo.

MYTH Terri is in a coma or comatose-like state.

REALITY None of Terri’s doctors currently maintain that she is in a coma. Some doctors believe that Terri is in a persistent vegetative state while others disagree and believe that she is “minimally conscious.” Most Americans have seen footage of Terri interacting with her mother by now and it is hard to ignore the way in which she appears to light up at the sound of her mother’s voice.

Important note:

The definition of PVS in Florida Statue 765.101: Persistent vegetative state means a permanent and irreversible condition of unconsciousness in which there is:

(a) The absence of voluntary action or cognitive behavior of ANY kind. (b) An inability to communicate or interact purposefully with the environment.

MYTH Terri is on life support. Terri requires machines to live.

This case is much, much bigger than Terri. It is a nationwide titanic battle between the forces of evil and those of good. We are at a point where this nation will either reverse the current trend of heading into a cultural and moral abyss, becoming just like Europe (i.e. The Netherlands), or regain our proud and decent heritage.

My brother was feed through a feed tube as he couldnt swallow. His facial nerve was damaged as a result of an illness and it went down and damaged his ability to swallow. The tube was put in and he recovered and now can at least eat normally after a long long recovery periode. The Drs said he would have to feed himself that way for the rest of his life as they said his ability to swallow will never come back. It did and he can and the rest is history. His face droops a little on one side yet but he lives in comfort and is ALIVE.

This woman has a chance. All they gotta do is let her have that chance.

Actually, I think I heard he's a Republican...but from what I've read about him, I can't imagine why he's made the rulings he has, much less what he could possible have in common with your average "GOP'er"!! A chance at what, exactly? Her cerebrum is literally atrophied away and the resulting hole in the brain has filled with cranial fluid. This information, obtained from EEGs among other things, is entered into sworn testimony in multiple Floridan courts by court-appointed neurologists. So what do you suggest a woman lacking a cerebrum has a chance of, if only she gets it? To someday be able to reflexively swallow on her own?

Any person, even without medical training, can tell she still has some cognitive processes. To her husband it's all about money! Once she dies he gets to spend the $2 million dollar jury award they received some years earlier on his new family. Why hasn't he allowed her to get an MRI that can tell if she has brain function?

I care and so does my husband. We have prayed hard that the right thing is done for Terri and believe that (1) somehow she must get a divorce from the so-called "husband", who is shacking up with another woman and has two children with her, thereby removing him as her "guardian" (2) let Terri receive rehabiltation therapy via her parents and (3) impeach Judge Greer. We were happy to listen to FoxNews callers on TV expressing the same views. The so-called "husband" must go.

It is my understanding that the money she received went for medical care. The lawyer got $400,000 of that for his services. Today there is about $50,000 left or so they say. I suspect that the hospital isn't planning to care for indigent patient.

So her husband won't receive much, if any left. And he turned down the $1 million offer from her family to walk away and forget her. He refused.

So if the money is not what he is looking for, what is it?
