Any person, even without medical training, can tell she still has some cognitive processes. To her husband it's all about money! Once she dies he gets to spend the $2 million dollar jury award they received some years earlier on his new family. Why hasn't he allowed her to get an MRI that can tell if she has brain function?
It is my understanding that the money she received went for medical care. The lawyer got $400,000 of that for his services. Today there is about $50,000 left or so they say. I suspect that the hospital isn't planning to care for indigent patient.
So her husband won't receive much, if any left. And he turned down the $1 million offer from her family to walk away and forget her. He refused.
So if the money is not what he is looking for, what is it?
