Israel finds Jesus miracle sites

JERUSALEM - Just in time for Christmas, Israeli archeologists unveiled ancient sites where Jesus is believed to have performed two of his most celebrated miracles.

In Jerusalem, the pool where Jesus is said to have cured a man's blindness has been found under several yards of dirt.

According to John's Gospel, Chapter 9, verses 1-12, Jesus performed this miracle at the Siloam Pool in the City of David just south of the Temple Mount.

Archeologists revealed yesterday they found an impressively paved assembly area and water channel that brought rainwater to the Siloam Pool in the Second Temple period when Jesus lived.

In Galilee, archeologists discovered the location where the Gospels say Jesus turned water into wine 2,000 years ago.

After 50 years of searching in the Arab town of Kfar Kana, the latest dig uncovered the remains of a town inhabited around the time of Jesus.

Researchers found the remnants of buildings, grinding stones, cooking ovens, stone vessels and several Jewish mikvahs, or ritual baths, one nearly 7 feet high with an arched roof. Still buried is a large structure that may be the remains of an ancient synagogue.

What I can't figure out is why would such important locations EVER be covered up? My guess is that the leaders in charge KNEW the miracles were true, but didn't want evidence of the locations or miracles ever found. Any ideas?

This is all fine and dandy but I would far prefer the israeli government to fully discolose the dead sea scrolls and transalted text as well as all the hundreds of scolls containing early christian writings they found in the surrounding caves.

Many of the first century writings of the church have been lost.

Tourist attractions are only valuable if there are tourists.

I saw something about the bathing pool on the History Channel a few weeks back. Maybe it was this same site! Extremely interesting. And lovely to read about this at Christmastime, too! Thank you for posting it! Now all I need is pictures of Miss. Beazley at the White House with Barney and my Christmas will be complete. I don't think that the Israeli government is hiding the texts, the dead sea scrolls that were found are in a museum in Israel and on display for the interested. These same scrolls agree with the King James version of the Holy Bible and are one more proof of God's infallible word being kept by God through the millennia though the world has tried to hide and destroy them through the ages.
The corrupted church(ye shall know them by their fruits) are more guilty of hiding or denying the scriptures of God and his Christ than Israel ever has been, near as I can tell.

Ummm, no. See for example John 12--starting at, say, verse 9. "Meanwhile a large crowd of Jews found out that Jesus was there and came, not only because of him but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead. So the chief priests made plans to kill Lazarus as well, for on account of him many of the Jews were going over to Jesus and putting their faith in him."

So even his religious enemies got wind of these things...

And it wasn't just Jesus...Acts 4:13 ff-- "When they saw the courage of Peter ad John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished, and they took note that they had been with Jesus. But since they could see the man who had been healed standing there with them, there was nothing they could say. So they ordered them to withdraw from the Sanhedrin and then conferred together. "What are we going to do with these men?" they asked. Everybody living in Jerusalem knows they have done an outstanding miracle, and we cannot deny it.

I have a copy of the "Complete Dead Sea Scrolls", published in English. Just bought it from Books a Million two weeks ago. It contains the entire texts of most of the documents that have been repaired and translated, including the Messianic references to early Christianity.

Normal erosion in the area from what I have heard. Evidently the entire area has as much as an inch of sand blown on top of it every ten years or so. Most sites are under twenty to fifty feet of soil of that time period. In some places it is because when they tore down buildings they just left the remains there and built on top of it as they didn't have trucks to truck it away.
