The only good news I have to give you is that when she got off at 2 the junkies were never anywhere to be seen.
And ironically enough, I was adminstering Methadone to an end stage cancer patient last night, as the belief is it enhances the effects of the other pain meds. I realize these type of patients are not the ones concerning the citizens.
Well, there is the convenience...
I know you're trying to be funny but since my step son died from drug abuse I can't laugh. I used to take him to the methadone clinic. At that clinic - in Seattle - they used to bring inmates to the clinic for a fix. One time, I saw an inmate in handcuffs (orange jumpsuit) take off and the policeman just stood there dumbfounded. It was the most amazing thing. The authorities just stand there paralyzed. AND THEY WANT THESE PEOPLE AROUND OUR KIDS?!!
Abortion clinics are always in the poor parts of town. Here where I live, there's one in the predominantly black and hispanic area dishing out as much birth control as they can make. There's a big Planned Parenthood in the poor white area as well doing the same thing. Where I go to class, I always see abortion protestors and you can't find the clinic because they don't even have a sign.
What do local zoning laws say?
This clinic should not be anywhere near a residential area. If it's a medical clinic, it's a business and belongs in a business zone. It also should not be permitted in a "gray area" business zone which overlaps a residential area.
Yeah, I realized it was a bad joke almost as soon as I hit the Post button. Sorry!
I too am sorry about your step-son, I didn't know.
I don't support methadone clinics because it is substituting one very toxic addiction for another. I would rather see society set up tent cities in VERY remote places and just give addicts free drugs and free food and let them die in peace and leave the rest of us alone.
Hint, hint: look at who owns the property. Odds are even that it's a relative of a local politician who sees dollar signs on the rental for the clinic.
They'd have a hissy fit a mile long!!! Try an abortion clinic, too. Oh, no, NOT IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD!! But it's okay for us poor folks to have those disgusting operations in our neighborhoods.
The clinic owner said they decided to put the clinic there because there are so many clients already living in that neighborhood. You should have heard the OUTRAGE! I thought they were going to stampede. One guy yelled: "I am very offended that you think we're a bunch of drug addicts!" Sheeeeesh. It may not be an affluent neighborhood but there are some nice families there, trying to keep their neighborhood clean and good.
Put it in Garden City. Oops wrong state.
What'd you do? We're looking for a loophole. Brad Castillo blamed it on the AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT - like it's illegal to discriminate against the disabled - like drug addicts are a protected group. It's so darn frustratin'.
Our abortion clinic (the one I know of) is also near downtown, not really close to any heavy residential areas. I don't think too many people even knew where it was (unless they went out of their way to find out) until Eric Rudolph tried to bomb it..
Here's another concern. Transportation to the clinic could be a problem. They need to find an area where local children, Senior Citizens and normal people won't be using the same public transportation as the addicts.
Check the property owner in public records.
Lots and lots of letters... lots of community meetings. Plus my mayor was pretty central in that effort.
Brad Castillo sounds like he has another agenda working this little plan of his. Very interesting.
