CRONKITE: KARL ROVE BEHIND BIN LADEN TAPE Sat Oct 30 2004 16:31:19 ET

Former CBSNEWS anchorman Walter Cronkite believes Bush adviser Karl Rove is possibly behind the new Bin Laden tape.

Cronkite made the startling comments late Friday during an interview on CNN.

Cronkite said he is "inclined to think that Karl Rove, the political manager at the White House, who is a very clever man, he probably set up bin Laden to this thing."

Interviewer Larry King did not ask Cronkite to elaborate on the provocative election eve accusation.

Yea, Carl Rove has a direct connection via phone with bin Laden:
Here is a brief transcript:
Rove: Hey OBL (he calls him that for short) what are you up to this weekend?
OBL: Not much, just hanging out here in the cave.
Rove: Want to do a video for us before the election?
OBL: Sure, not much happening around here - I can use the work and I just got my outfit back from the cleaners - I will look great!
Rove: Great, we will send a video team right over - should be there in a few hours.
OBL: I will be looking for them - anything special you want me to say?
Rove: No, just make Bush and Republicans look good for the upcoming election.
OBL: OK - Talk you again soon!
Rove: Bye Bye
OBL: Bye Karl - take care and say hello to the wife for me!

He's old enough for senile dementia, you know.
But he displayed his prejudice. Since he is forever associated with CBS, he just kicked the Tiffany network in the chops.
On a bright note, Dan Rather will be joining him soon.

Is Cronkite really saying that Karl Rove got Osama bin Laden to make the tape?

and in another twist of geezers for redistribution and fraud, Dan-Qaida Rather's Al-CBS has said that the Bin Laden tape helps Kerry

This connects to that other Kerry Kamp propaganda about Bush having already captured Bin Laden and keeping him on ice for an October suprise.

So Cronkite figures that Rove forced the captured Osama to do this tape to stir everyone up, before announcing that the tape led us to Binny Laden and he has just been captured.

Rove,you are a genius!

Cronkite, you are a babbling idiot!

Why would Karl Rove produce a tape that shows we should elect kerry if we want to have less terrorists ?

If Rove is behind the Bin Laden tape, then could the MSM have been behind 9/11 in an attempt to show Pres. Bush as a poor leader? ... and don't forget, Aliens were behind the assassination of John Kennedy .....Twilight Zone stuff, hope this insanity ends on Tues/Wed of next week..

To think Cronkite was once one of the most trusted men in America?

Yea and if you look real close he was trusted by those who hate America and love communism.

My father never trusted him and he used to be a hardline Democrat !

When was Cronkite one of the most trusted men in America? Perhaps when he returned from South Vietnam in 1968 and said that the communists were the victors of the Tet Offensive? Even though no one in the military agreed. Bill Moyers, a former aide to LBJ, gives much of the credit to Cronkite for persuading Johnson to begin softening America's stance toward the communists in Vietnam.

Here is what Cronkite said on the CBS Evening News in late February, 1968:

To say that we are closer to victory today is to believe, in the face of the evidence, the optimists who have been wrong in the past. To suggest that we are on the edge of defeat is to yield to unreasonable pessimism. To say that we are mired in stalemate seems the only realistic, yet unsatisfactory conclusion. . . . It is increasingly clear to this reporter that the only rational way out, then, will be to negotiate, not as victors, but as honorable people who lived up to their pledge to defend democracy, and did the best they could.

At the White House, President Lyndon Johnson watched the special report with some of his staff, including News Secretary George Christian and his assistant, Bill Moyers. According to Moyers, when the program was over, "The President flipped off the set and said 'If I've lost Cronkite, I've lost Middle America.'" Five weeks later, on March 31, Johnson announced that he would not seek reelection, this in the context of a unilateral bombing pause of North Vietnam.

Walter Cronkite shares a good portion of the responsibility for eroding public trust in our military. He gave credence to folks like John Kerry, Jane Fonda and the Clintons.

At least Uncle Walt has the right idea; this tape works to Bush's advantage. Especially the part about Bin Laden wanting us out of Iraq...that MUST mean we did the right thing going in...

So they really do have Bin Laden somewhere in a cave. They drugged him up and convinced him it was 9/12/01 and tricked him into reading this script in front of a camera. That Karl Rove is brilliant. He executed this just like a Mission Impossible episode.

Sure, Cronkite's biased, and all the better if this is yet another hickie on CBS. LOL, they earned it. In regard to Dan Blather, I'm of the opinion that Ol' Dan is already working on a case of dementia.
