LOS ANGELES Michael Moore says he won't submit "Fahrenheit 9/11" for consideration as best documentary at this year's Academy Awards . Instead, he's going for the bigger prize of best picture. Moore's critically acclaimed film slams President Bush's War on Terror as ill-advised and corrupt. The movie has cheered Democrats but enraged the president's supporters, who booed Moore when he visited the Republican National Convention last week.

probably because he knows if he submits it for best documentary, there will be tons of people able to show falsehoods all throughout the movie.

Critically acclaimed? LOL, oh really? By whom?
It's a farce and everyone knows it's a farce.

Do they have a nomination category for the best fabrication?

You know what, I hope it does win. It will once and for all frame the Oscars for what they are, worthless.

Moore's film has been disqualified by the Academy's own rules. Since it was aired on television in Cuba by his buddy Castro, Michael Moore's film cannot be nominated or selected as a winner in any Academy Award category.
And if the Academy tries to bend the rules for Moore, I think we should let them know what we think...and in spades.

No, he won't win, because there are too many real directors who have skills and work hard. They won't throw another's just desserts away for that man. Even they would not do that for such a talentless windbag.

What film out this year would you consider an Oscar level work? I really can't recall ANY good films this year, not even one...(Of course the year is FAR from over...)

I thought that I heard that he had already considered taking the film out of the running if he can find a network to air it on the eve of the election.

I hope it wins. Saving Private Ryan losing to Shakespeare in Love was when I stopped watching that stupid parade of leftwingers. This will be icing on the cake and show the country what a joke hollywood is.

The "big" Oscar films are generally released at the end of the year (sometimes only with a qualifying LA run). Too long and the Oscar voters forget they liked another movie mroe than somehting they just saw.
The Passion of the Christ came out this year. I will see it now that it is on video (I missed it in theaters). There were quite a few screenings starting in 2003. I don't know if Mel's film is still eligible for a 2005 Oscar (for movies released in 2004) nor do I know if Mel Gibson even cares. His film reached its audience and set box office records.

For what it's worth, the Academy has said that since the Cuban broadcast was "unauthorized" they will not disqualify the film. Funny how I haven't heard Michael Moore or the MPAA screaming about the incident of bootlegging a "popular" movie (to quote their own hype).

I thought that I heard that he had already considered taking the film out of the running if he can find a network to air it on the eve of the election. What, PBS doesn't want it? If they could, I'm sure they'd run it as a 24 hour special, like that one cable channel (USA?) does with "Christmas Story" on Christmas Day...
Despite Moore's rehetoric, I think he needs the affirmation of his fellow Marxists in the Academy more so than wanting this to air on national TV...
