We are students at a school in NJ and are required to do a report on Mt.Rainier and what the government plans to do in case of an eruption. Any info on the plans would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your help.

What I would do is start at fema.gov and see if they have anything on that.

Take a look at what the cleanup process for the Mt. Hood explosion was, they're similar.

You might do a search on the town of Orting in the Puyallup (don't even attempt a pronunciation) Valley. I believe they've done a lot of prep work on evac routes, etc.

"We are students at a school in NJ and are required to do a report on Mt.Rainier and what the government plans to do in case of an eruption." My understanding is that a team of experts will be flown in from NJ, who will throw cigarette butts on the ground in sufficient quantities to stem the lava flow...#8-)

Rent 'Dante's Peak' with Pierce Brosnan. It's very realistic I'm sure.
seriously. Study Mt. St. Helens it erupted nearly 25 years ago.

Your teacher probably expected that you would do your research yourselves instead of asking others to do it for you.

When Ex-President Carter was in the White House, he
wanted to stop the lava flow by dropping green backs
over the volcano. Then he wanted to call it the Magma Carter.

Then run Felt the same way when I read the TVA innundation plans for the dam about ten miles up from my house. Then, when they arrested some folks for suspicious activity up there, I had to go back and review them. I don't think I can get pontoons for the house.

Actually, it's closer to poo-yal-lup.
You can do it at a trot
you can do it at a gallop
you can do it nice and slow

What grade are they, Mike?
Personally, I think it's great that the teacher has them reaching out like this - despite the joke post that I put up there. They'll get some good sources for searching, and, with any luck, they'll get some personal opinions from folks in that particular area.
