Hi, I'm fairly new to FR, and there are some terms I'm confused about. I have an idea, but I want to make sure I have it right.
Bump-does it stand for anything?
Ping-Pass it on to the next guy?
Any other FR terms I should know?

How about 'flame' or 'zot'.

Bump just means to bump the message back to the top of the "latest posts" lists.
Yes, ping is when you send a message to someone saying "hey look at this."
"The Lexicon of FreeRepublic" thread from a while back...

If a topic interests you, you place a "bump" on that thread. That'll send it to the top on the my comments page. Ping is that you're showing other FReepers a topic that might interest them. Zot is the remopving of a troll from FR.

You need to spend some time studying the Texts of the Ancients. About five people have already provided the links, so I won't do it again.

Personally, I'm still working on what INTREP means...

More often than not, you have to request to be on a ping list (that's my policy with the Hollywood Leftist List). Sometimes if you've shown a particular interest in a topic, FReepers will add you to their ping list.

Thanks for asking and posting.
I have been wanting to ask if someone would review the so called"ground rules" for when folks are involved in a FReep. OR wanting to Protest and say they are with FReeRepublic!
I do not want people to think these guidelines for "sane and safe" FReeping are coming from me or anyone else in our chapter , BUT are Guidelines for FReepers EVERYWHERE!
It is really good to review stuff because new freepers are joining daily.
Thanks in advance.
