i think it's called circumstantial evidence. throw in the tunisian pilot and you've got enough proof for me. but the frenchies seem to have logic problems. i think it's because they drink too much wine.

We plant bugs and track them down like bloodhounds. Watch where they go, who they talk to; record their telephone conversations. When we collect enough information, we take out a whole nest of vipers at once, maybe even zero in on the lair of the biggest snake of all.
Unfortunately, they are probably just smart enough to disperse, go to ground, and maintain strict silence.

And according to the Bush Doctrine, we consider France a terrorist nation.

they probably have orders to go to israel and blow themselves up on a schoolbus if plan a fails. we'll never see this bunch alive again so the hopes of following them and getting information is moot. the only opportunity has passed thanks to the french.

France is well, France.
Worthless.

I know, due process annoys you. It is what separates us from them. But that doesn't mean, that a pack of jackels shouldn't be on the guy's tail every moment of his life. It is so easy to be a keyboard, just kill em and turn them all into glass, warrior. It certainly alleviates any need for serious thought, and long term planning and consequences.

Due process? Are you aware that you can be arrested and held for 8 hours without any charges at all? Arrest the terrorist and let them hire lawyers like everyone else. Don't let the French substitute themselves for justice.
To: Torie
and as for turning them into glass; when your enemy is trying to kill you you damn well better be prepared to kill them first.
To: gitmo
And according to the Bush Doctrine, we consider France a terrorist nation I don't doubt that may be the contention with senior officials in the Bush administration.
If this was 1999, Clinton would have covered this up. You know all that jazz Wesley Clark is now pushing, about how the US has to have the permission of the french, germans, surinamians, before the US takes any action about a terrorist threat.

You still need probable cause. I assume the frogs have an equivalent. Obviously, there wasn't enough here to do that, after the presumptive perps had been quesioned. If you think the French had a vested interest in releasing airline terrorists, who wanted to do a redux, well, then you are delusional. A repeat would have caused the US to have become a raging bear, and France would not like it all. Try to think it all through, all of it. That is my best advice.

It is so easy to be a keyboard, just kill em and turn them all into glass, warrior. Where in this thread have I stated the contention of your above italicized passage? I'll give you a clue, I haven't.
What I have stated is the french's past track record, and that track record screams appeasment towards the islamofacists.
Hey, it's your right to ignore recent history.
JMO, that puts you in the same camp as Howard Dean.

Hmmmm...I wonder who's watching them? They were probably released at the behest of the US State Department after they were sure that the CIA had sufficient assets in place to track these pukes in the hopes that they might lead to some active cells.
It'll probably take a while but it should bear fruit.

Wasn't Richard Reid the inept (thank the Lord) shoebomber questioned, released and then put on a plane bound for NYC by the Frenchies?
Reuters is already quoting some French authorites who are sneering at the "bogus terrorist plot" saying that the US authorities are over reacting.
Boy, I despise France. The country is chock full of miserable, inept cowardly weenies. It won't be long before Islamonazis over run the joint. Can't say that I'd shed a tear.

Read. The U.S. Government now believes that Al Quada has infiltrated Air France. Six (6) men from the U.S. Government terrorist watch list was on flight 68. SIX OF THEM ON ONE FLIGHT WITH A AL QUADA PILOT! But we're going to ignore common sense.
To: go star go
What happens here when somebody on (or whose name matches) a "no fly" list is found? Usually they get questioned and sent away or, if it becomes apparent there was a name confusion, allowed to embark on a different flight. Prolonged detention is rare. Not clear that France was doing anything different.
To: Dane
JMO, that puts you in the same camp as Howard Dean. I hope you had a very, Merry Christmas. In the meantime, when I agree with Dean, I will so post it. I love being a contrarian, and won't hesitate to do so, right here, on this forum. In the meantime, your calling me a Deanie won't slow me down a bit. I have been called worse. I call them as I see them.

It'll probably take a while but it should bear fruit Kinda of like the french releasing Richard Reid(shoe bomber) the day after he was detained to board a US Carrier flight from Paris.
