How does that work exactly?
The ending of the movie classic "Casablanca" in Ebonics:
A carload uh gendarmes pulls up. In duh distant background, duh plane be taxi-in' an' turnin' on duh runway. Five policemen run up to duh amoral Capitaine Renault who announces climactically:
Majo' Strassa gots been shot.
In a tense, dramatically effective moment, day be a long pause. Renault first looks at Rick an' then back at duh gendarmes. [Will he side wif Rick o' protect duh status quo?] Renault indicates that he ain't arrest Rick, deliverin' a famous command to his brothas:
Round up duh usual suspects.
[Duh catchphrase be used fo' duh title uh a 90s film featurin' a police identity lineup, Duh Usual Suspects (1995).] Knowin' that day be no witnesses, Renault overlooks Rick's crime an' duh police carry away Strassa's body. Rick looks back at his French friend wif a half-smile. "La Marseillaise" begins to play slowly on duh soundtrack. Next to a stand-up desk, Renault picks up a bottle uh Vichy wata an' opens it:
Renault: Well, Rick, you be not only a sentimentalist, but you've become a patriot.
Rick: Maybe, but it seemed like a fine time to start.
Renault: I think perhaps you be right. He pours duh Vichy wata into a glass, but then sees its label. Wif a look uh disgust, he quickly drops duh bottle into a trash basket an' kicks it ova. [His act symbolizes his open rejection uh Vichy France's appeasement uh duh German Nazi government an' support fo' duh anti-Nazi Allied cause.]
Then, in duh fog, they clock duh plane ascend into duh air fo' neutral Lisbon. Renault suggests to Rick a way out uh Casablanca - join duh Free French at Brazzaville, but Rick reminds him that duh offa can't be in exchange fo' cancellin' their waga:
Renault: It might be a fine idea fo' you to disappea from Casablanca fo' a while. Day's a Free French garrison ova at Brazzaville [in French Equatorial Africa]. I could be induced to arrange a passage.
Rick: My letta uh transit? I could use a trip. But it doesn't make any difference 'bout our bet. You still owe me ten thousand francs.
Renault: An' that ten thousand francs should pay our expenses.
Rick (quizzically) Our expenses?[Will Renault join Rick in duh resistance movement as a fellow patriot, accompanyin' Rick to Brazzaville?]
Rick walks off wif Capitaine Renault across duh wet runway into duh mist, as they discuss what they might does togetha wif duh 10,000 francs [$300] - duh payment due on their earlia bet ova whetha o' not Laszlo would get out uh Casablanca. Duh closin' in duh fog brings anotha great classic line [dubbed in lata] as Rick tells Renault that they have forged a new alliance:
Louis, I think this be duh beginnin' uh a beautiful friendship.
Their new partnership be underscored wif duh triumphant sounds uh La Marseillaise.
