Bill Salier has the hearts of the grassroots of the Iowa GOP. 'Greg' Ganske (who since going to the House of Representatives has voted nearly half the time with the Dems instead of the Republican Caucus) has the money, the media, and the DC establishment...(why I don't know.)

My sources tell me that the lamebrains at the Senatorial Committee are even actively supporting Ganske...up to and including sending staff into the state to try to resurrect Ganske's fruitless attempt at organizing some support from real Iowa Republicans.

Bill Salier is exactly the kind of candidate to put up against the socialist warrior, Tom 'Commie Tommy' Harkin...ex-Marine, farmer, eloquent, attractive, charismatic, earnest, sincere...a cutting edge conservative with principles he won't compromise. In other words, someone who can provide a real contrast to Dungheap Harkin.

Ganske on the other hand is exactly the type of squishy opponent that Harkin has been crushing since the early 70's.

Leadership is going to have to come from the rank and file of the Party...and I fully expect that to happen in this case...I fully expect the nominee to be Bill Salier. I fully expect the Party poohbahs (read: political hacks) to have egg all over their faces here just as they did in CA.

Hadn't heard about the RNSC sending in staff. Thanks for the heads up.

In the last few weeks, Ganske has gone from ignoring Salier to a full-on attack. His internals must be terrible.

His internals must be terrible.

No doubt.

I've been on the ground there alot...I have many friends all over the state. The fact is that Ganske is fixing to get squashed.

I see that Kayne Robinson is hosting the North fundraiser for Bill...very interesting. I once served on the Republican State Committee with him. Robinson was GOP State Chairman just a couple of years ago. He hated Ganske...the Congressman treated him like dirt.

Kayne Robinson is also a vice-chairman of the NRA...just behind Heston in that pecking order. He's a heavy hitter, and has connections with some serious money both in Iowa and nationally.

Glad to see folks like that stepping up to the plate for Salier...He's exactly the kind of Senator we need to begin electing, if we are ever going to have leadership with vision, principle, backbone and the ability to communicate the message of conservatism.

Regards...EV

This is the hideousness of the government telling us what we can do with our own money. (Don't you like the comparison to the pro-aborts)? How bout me exercising my choice to give whatever I want, to whomever I want, whenever I want?

Anyway, get out and help Bill.

Bill Salier will be in Greenfield, IA Monday night April 8. A representaive of Ganske's will also be there. The big draw is that ALL THREE candidates for Governor will be there.

They will be at the Chamber Office at 7:00 PM

It is good that Ollie is speaking up for people. I just wish that he would get elected to an office. Col. North is a great American.

I agree. Too bad the Republican establishment does not see it.

Club for Growth just named Ganske as House RINO of the Year. Bush is coming in for Ganske in April to try to derail Salier just like he did in the Riordan/Simon race. Too many Republicans hold Bush sacrosanct and treat every word he says as holy writ.

The hacks in Des Moines are beside themselves...they just can't understand how or why Bill Salier is kicking Ganske's b*tt.

It's a beautiful sight to behold, especially for me. I spent many years fighting against the very people who are backing Ganske.

Finally, Harkin will get the kind of challenge he deserves, and he can retire to his villa in the Bahamas.

If the American people knew how badly Harkin has sold us out to the communists for the last 30 years, he would go to prison as a traitor, instead. The name 'Commie Tommy' is literally true in Harkin's case.

Salier has had alleged "conservatives" ask him to drop out and endorse Ganske because if the primary is especially bitter, Ganske runs the risk of losing the conservatives altogether. Ex-Governor Terry Branstad sent out a letter to Republicans to "clear up the record" on Greg Ganske. It is posted in the Iowa locale. Bob Barr has also sent a letter into Iowa touting Ganske's pro-second amendment stance, even though he received a D in their latest ratings.

Barr's office and the NRA phone lines have all been flooded with angry Iowa conservatives.

Branstad lost his political mind just before his departure from office after 16 years.

He gave away the store to the ISEA (the NEA's Iowa affiliate), scr*wing over his Republican allies in the legislature in the process.

Fortunately, he just doesn't carry that much political weight these days. You can see why.

...if the primary is especially bitter, Ganske runs the risk of losing the conservatives altogether.

There is no one to blame on that score except Ganske himself. In the House, he voted with the Dems almost as often as he voted with the Republican caucus.

As they say, he left the Party, not the other way around. That is one of the key reasons that we can't allow him to win the nomination.

The only people who are going to be mad if Salier wins are Ganske and his inner circle, and a few RINOs.

As far as the general electorate, they love Bill...he is cut from the same cloth as Grassley...a farmer who is known as a straight shooter. For those who don't know, Grassley wins reelection with over 70% of the votes.

Interesting reading. So what do you think is the signifigance of Kayne MCing the CR event after the Barr letter bombed? Is he trying to save face for the NRA?

I tend to give him the benefit of the doubt, and would consider him a sincere supporter of Bill. My information would lead me to believe that Ganske treated Mr. Robinson like dirt when he was chairman of the Party. (Besides, Kayne has always been a conservative...he was state chairman for Phil Graham, and has a long record of standing true to the conservative cause.)

Is he trying to save face for the NRA?

Could be some element of that dynamic here...but it is pure speculation, lacking any proof otherwise.

Hey, if that is part of it, at least that would mean they heard the grassroot's concerns.

Who else are the RINOs going to vote for? The call themselves Republicans because they do not want to be Democrats for some reason or another. The RINOs will vote for the Republican nominee, whoever he is. We could put Attila the Hun up there and the RINOs would still vote for him. No principles.

Conservatives are not as forgiving of past transgressions. We have the Deformed Party and the Constitution Party here in Iowa. We go with one of those or simply sit an election out.

That should be interesting. Sukup claims that Vilsack is responsible for the budget problems, but the Republicans have had control of both houses. Go figure.

VanderPlatts is a good candidate and Gross is better in person than he is on the radio.

We aren't worried. Branstad's people are the same ones that made Lame-r Alexander President.

Not all the Republican establishment agrees Ganske is the one most likely to defeat Harkin. Trust me on this one.
