McCain says he regrets picking Palin as running mate

Sen. John McCain

(R-Ariz.) said he regrets choosing former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) to be his running mate during the 2008 presidential campaign.

The New York Times reported on Saturday that McCain, while still defending Palin’s performance, said in his upcoming book “The Restless Wave” that he wishes he had instead selected former Sen. Joseph Lieberman (I-Conn.)

His advisers reportedly had warned against choosing Lieberman, who was once a Democrat, stating that Lieberman’s support of abortion rights could divide Republicans.

“It was sound advice that I could reason for myself,” he writes. “But my gut told me to ignore it and I wish I had.”

In a new HBO documentary, McCain goes on to say that not choosing Lieberman was “another mistake" that he made in his political career.

Lieberman told The Times that he didn’t know McCain felt that way.

“It touched me greatly,” he said of the film.

The Times reported that Lieberman recently visited McCain, 81, at his ranch in Arizona where the senator is recovering from his brain cancer treatment and surgery for an infection.

Recently released excerpts from McCain’s upcoming memoir indicate that he doesn’t know how much time he has left to live while battling the glioblastoma he was diagnosed with last year.

Although the memoir isn’t entirely political, McCain still takes swings at Trump.

McCain writes that the president seems to care more about “the appearance of toughness” than American values, chiding Trump's coziness with Russian President Vladimir Putin, in particular.

“The Restless Wave: Good Times, Just Causes, Great Fights, and other Appreciations.” will be released May 22.

Concur. More and more I'm convinced that the McCain nomination was a back-room deal to create a losing candidate. If my conviction is correct, I further believe that Sarah Palin was added to the ticket to ensure its failure as her being “unelectable”.

However, Governor Palin’s ability and personality strongly resonated with conservatives and independents, shocking the deal-makers. She was electable to high officer in her own right. And she was also a swamp drainer. The deal-makers went into self-preservation mode, assassinating her character during that election and ever since.

There is no way I can prove this. So it just remains an opinion.

He should have picked Pelosi as his running mate if he were honest.

McCain is DETERMINED to secure his creds as a Democrat before he dies.

FWIW, I NEVER would’ve held my nose and voted for McCain had it NOT been for Sarah Palin!

Shed your Mortal Coil already, you traitor.

What a horrible thing to say. McCain is a loser.

McCain is DETERMINED to secure his creds as a Democrat before he dies.

FWIW, I NEVER would’ve held my nose and voted for McCain had it NOT been for Sarah Palin!

It is transparent as a window that John McCain is the deepest of the deep state.

I honestly think now that him choosing Sarah in 2008 was a calculated ploy to derail a major Conservative catalyst and trailblazer.

Joke is on them.

If we had Sarah than President Trump wouldn't have been necessary.

More is the pity for them.

Moron. Sarah was the only reason we voted FOR McCain/Palin.

I am so tired of John McCain.

I hope he has made his peace with God.

I hope he knows Jesus.

True that. I hoped Cain would croak en-Able-ing Palin. Cain killed Palins chance.

Are we to understand you are referring to John McCain and not Herman Cain?

I regret voting for him

Me too! In fact, when we attended a rally in Albuquerque, you could tell that the crowd was really there to see Palin because she got about twice the rousing reception that McCain got! She was the star attraction by far!

It was an all encompassing ploy that went as deep as to use her name on everything short of the Kansas ticket for support of the very old school swamp observer and facilitator Pat Roberts. The last century “REPUBLICAN” who hasnt held a residence in the state for over a decade. The scumbag politician that I would not of voted for if it had not been for Sarah’s name supporting him.

This is what it has come to. We are all hoping that our current representatives are going to die before the next election cycle!

John McCain; an ungrateful, disloyal weasel to the bitter end. This, after Sarah endorsed his re-election in 2012 (for which she was roundly criticized).

By next week, he’ll be saying that Hanoi Jane was right.

A. Corrupt the young, get them away from religion. Get them
interested in sex. Make them superficial, destroy their
ruggedness.
B. Get control of all means of publicity and thereby:
1. Get people’s minds off their government by focusing
attention on athletics, sexy books and plays and other
trivialities.
2. Divide the people into hostile groups by constantly harping on controversial matters of no importance.
3. Destroy the people’s faith in their natural leaders by
holding the latter up to contempt, ridicule and obloquy.
4. Always preach true democracy, but seize power
as fast and as ruthlessly as possible.
5. By encouraging government extravagance, destroy its
credit, produce fear of inflation with rising prices and
general discontent.
6. Foment unnecessary strikes in vital industries, encour-
age civil disorders and foster a lenient and soft atti-
tude on the part of government toward such disorders.
7. By specious argument cause the breakdown of the old
moral virtues, honesty, sobriety, continence, faith in
the pledged word, ruggedness.
C. Cause the registration of all fire arms on some pretext,
with a view to confiscating them and leaving the popula-
tion helpless

The rules for destroying a Nation are almost one hundred years old. I have wondered for years what Natural leaders in number three means: Now I know. Trump and Palin are Natural leaders, not groomed and brainwashed for a leadership position. They must be destroyed by contempt, ridicule and obloquy.

After McCain purposefully gave the election to Obama, I saw a sign in rural California outside a farm in big bold letters saying:
DON'T BLAME ME, I VOTED FOR THE BABE AND THE OLD GUY

What really showed who he was/is (McCain) is when he said pretty much this:

You have nothing to fear from Obama, he would make a good president.

Who says that about their opponent except a Deep State LOSER!

He wishes he picked Gore's running partner?

I guess now she can stop being polite to him.

The ONLY reason I voted for him in that election was Palin.
