McCain says he regrets picking Palin as running mate

Sen. John McCain

(R-Ariz.) said he regrets choosing former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) to be his running mate during the 2008 presidential campaign.

The New York Times reported on Saturday that McCain, while still defending Palin’s performance, said in his upcoming book “The Restless Wave” that he wishes he had instead selected former Sen. Joseph Lieberman (I-Conn.)

His advisers reportedly had warned against choosing Lieberman, who was once a Democrat, stating that Lieberman’s support of abortion rights could divide Republicans.

“It was sound advice that I could reason for myself,” he writes. “But my gut told me to ignore it and I wish I had.”

In a new HBO documentary, McCain goes on to say that not choosing Lieberman was “another mistake" that he made in his political career.

Lieberman told The Times that he didn’t know McCain felt that way.

“It touched me greatly,” he said of the film.

The Times reported that Lieberman recently visited McCain, 81, at his ranch in Arizona where the senator is recovering from his brain cancer treatment and surgery for an infection.

Recently released excerpts from McCain’s upcoming memoir indicate that he doesn’t know how much time he has left to live while battling the glioblastoma he was diagnosed with last year.

Although the memoir isn’t entirely political, McCain still takes swings at Trump.

McCain writes that the president seems to care more about “the appearance of toughness” than American values, chiding Trump's coziness with Russian President Vladimir Putin, in particular.

“The Restless Wave: Good Times, Just Causes, Great Fights, and other Appreciations.” will be released May 22.

OTOH, Lieberman would have solidified the Muzzie vote for Obama. After all, it’s been said that the reason why so many Muslims voted for Bush over Gore was because the latter had a Jew for his VP candidate.

This is nonsense, respectfully.

Lieberman was a Kennedy liberal who had been manhandled by Dick Cheney in the 2000 debate. His nomination would have led to a walkout on the Convention floor, probably engineered by the very Bushies who were quietly assisting the Obama Campaign.

Palin was the right choice, and is wise to remain silent during McCain’s passing.

That is true as well.

The Jewish-Muslim tensions in the Democratic Party would have opened.

Jewish voters would have sided with McCain. It would have made a big difference in NY, NJ, FL, GA.

You regret it, do you, John?

I'll bet your buddy Bill Kristol regrets it not at all, since you and Sarah losing the White House to Ubummer is just one more in a long string of that neoson's sabotaging what used to be the Republican Party.

Kristol, the Never-Trumper who never met a war he would send his own offspring to fight but doesn't mind if thousands of other families have to bury their sons and daughters sent to die for his causes (not for their country, obviously), has hankered for a McCain presidency since the Reagan years.

He has about nothing in common with Sarah Palin. He only wanted her in the VP slot to solidify the religious conservative vote so his warmongering friend John McCain would get elected and then send bombs and bodies to Iran, Syria and Upper Begonia as intermediate steps to conquering the whole GD world.

Sarah Palin was used and abused in the '08 election, and after. John McShame facilitated it; Bill Kristol walked away from it, as he always does. His losing streak is second only to Karl Rove's in terms of throwing good dollars at bad candidates.

And McCain was certainly a bad candidate. He would have made an even worse president, with our without Sarah Palin. He takes advice only from his family, who act as his echo chamber, living in fear of his bad temper.

Sarah is better off not having to defend that old senile "war hero."

Without Palin on the ticket, McCain probably would have lost not only 3%+ more of the popular vote, but lost Montana and Missouri too.

McCain has absolutely ZERO idea how DEAD things were in the days before he picked Palin...I mean NO volunteers, little money from the grassroots.

So many leaders in the GOP and fools on the coasts that just have NO IDEA how the elections work at the ground level among actual voters.

Utter fools or deliberate globalists, probably a combo of both.
