How did Donald Trump get this far? He's talented, to be sure, but he also had a little help from his friends.
Despite my strong urging (and the pleas of others), top conservative talkers generally looked the other way while Trump grew into a juggernaut that possibly cannot be stopped.
These top talkers might have strangled the populist baby in the crib; instead, they provided him cover (without ever officially endorsing him or taking responsibility for his irresponsible rhetoric).
In case you've forgotten, way back in December, Guy Benson described it thus:
Here's how the coy game has worked: When Trump is right, they praise him. Fine. When Trump is factually wrong, while making an argument that may contain a "larger truth," they justify his inaccuracies. When Trump lies, they deflect and excuse. And when Trump does something indefensible, they side-step the substance, resorting to marveling at how masterful he is at "driving a narrative," playing the media, and aggravating all the 'right' people. Sure, he may be a sloppy, impulsive, non-conservative ignoramus on actual policy, but at least "he fights" in a manner that gratifies our audience's political id; plus, "without him, we wouldn't even be talking about [fill in the blank]!" There's never an explicit endorsement, mind you, just loads of adulation. And airtime....

Stupid people.
Sen. Cruz is a stalking horse for Goldmann Sachs,
two, maybe three, different ways.
All previously SECRET, like ObamaTRADE.
Mr. Trump is for the American People.
Trump is everything conservatives have said they don’t want and everything liberals have said they do want except for two things: The wall and the media. He says he will build a wall and even though he clearly says he will expedite returns with legal status (amnesty with a road trip aka touchback), the wall and the first half of the trip is all people seem to hear. Also, he bashes the media, never apologizes and is most definitely not going to “how high” when the PC police say “jump.”
Yeah, we can’t have them womenfolk being successful. Barefoot and pregnant or Kinder, Küche, Kirche or the 3 Ks, as the German slogan is translated as âchildren, kitchen, churchâ.
Mr. Trump is for the American People.
*****************************************
Sure, which is why he normally marries FOREIGN woment.
How do you figure he’s everything liberals want, seriously? He’s against illegal immigration, against Muslim immigration (for now), pro 2nd Amendment (liberals hate guns), pro-life, a total capitalist (billionaire), etc.
He’s the anti liberal.
FIFY
Matt Lewis is a propagandist for The Cheap Labor Express. He fancies himself at being so clever he can influence people by being opaquely obtuse.
“Sen. Cruz is a stalking horse for Goldmann Sachs.”
You must believe that Ted Cruz is evil to the point of being demonically so. He presents himself as a man of God, a passionate patriot. But if you see him as a liar, someone who is so severely misrepresenting himself, then you must consider him to be about the most evil person running for president at the moment.
Is that the case? Is Ted Cruz a cynical poser, bent on deceiving good-hearted conservatives?
Bill Maher says differently.
the Daily Caller dialed a wrong number

Watch it. Think of today’s economic problems
You are smart and will figure out your answer !
You have apparently put your trust in the lifelong liberal Donald Trump. I trust no liberal, certainly not Trump.
That post makes me respect you even more then I did before. You are one of the most patriotic people I know. You care about America and want to see it thrive again. God Bless You!
I’m afraid you have actually talked yourself into believing that BS.
Watch the video. It’s not opinion but Trump in action or do you just echo liberal/Alinsky style platitudes without looking at facts. The man in the video is certainly a conservative.
Are you too under the mind control of others to view facts?
Is that the case? Is Ted Cruz a cynical poser, bent on deceiving good-hearted conservatives?
You said it, I didn’t. And you said it far better than I could. If I were going to sum up Ted Cruz in two words, they would be cynical & deceptive. And that’s leaving it to our Lord to sort out the rest.
Tell me how many people you know that have made 180 degree turns late in life on abortion, taxation, immigration, the 2nd Amendment, etc.
Personally, I don't know any and have only read about a handful of others.
Betting the farm on a Johnny come lately is very odd behavior, don't you think?
I'm not interested in your personal attacks. Why is it Trump supporters cannot defend him without them?
That said, you apparently missed the point.
There are few if any in this forum who live closer to the US/Mexican border than I. And I doubt there are any who have been as adversely affected by the influx of ILLEGAL aliens as have I. While I can agree that what Trump says about building a wall on our southern border, I do not trust him to do so. Likewise, I don't trust him on economic issues, either.
The man is a lifelong liberal. You are free to put your trust in him if you want, but it doesn't mean I am "under the mind control of others" because I don't.
