The Iowa caucuses are 54 days away. Donald Trump is, still, the national front-runner. Marco Rubio is, now, the establishment's best (only?) hope. And Ted Cruz is the guy who looks best positioned to win.
Yes, you heard that right.
Ted Cruz, as of today, has the most direct route to the Republican presidential nomination -- assuming the past history of Republican nomination fights works as a broad predictor of where this race is headed.
Let me elaborate.
1. Cruz is positioned as the most conservative candidate in the race. While Trump gets all of the attention for his over-the-top statements, Cruz has staked out a position on the far right on virtually every major hot button issue -- from immigration to Obamacare to national security and the fight with ISIS. And, tonally, Cruz comes across as aggressively and unapologetically conservative -- a less controversial and unelectable version of Trump.
A Washington Post-ABC News November poll showed that Cruz's numbers are in the stratosphere with voters who identify themselves as "very" conservative; 69 percent had a favorable opinion of him while just 21 percent regard Cruz in an unfavorable light.

Pingy.
Go Trump.
:D
Trump’s upcoming 50 state victory in ‘16 will yeild a lot of coattail victories if the R’s are smart enough to jump on the Nationalist bandwagon.
Cruz has a corn problem in Iowa:

He is only doing well in the polls because Trump has attacked all the other candidates and spared him.
Heidi Cruz coming up on FNC,can’t wait to hear what she says.
Don’t you love all those trumpees who have to get on a Cruz thread and gloat and/or bash?
As if now has anything to do with votes. I don’t vote for Cruz until 3/15.
What do you mean 50 states, EVERYONE knows there are 57 states! /sheesh
Well, the gloating/bashing hasn’t been too serious yet, just hoping to not get any death threats :-)
I stand corrected.
“Trump is in the lead in every poll...is it finally over for him”.
Reporters are all afraid of Trump when even their headlines make no sense. Either way no one should vote for Cruz, his wife is the vp at goldman sachs. Might as well let the Clintons take it, if you want another hack in the white house.
Ted Cruz is the best candidate.
Assuming history works as a predictor of where this race is headed?
What kind of idiot makes such a statement and keeps his job.
Anyone who thinks the past hasn't been erased as a predictor in this race hasn't been paying attention.
Trump has utterly destroyed the existing political paradigm in American politics.
Case in point, Jeb has spent $50 million and has gotten absolutely nothing to show for it. In the past, that kind of money would make him virtually unbeatable.
Trump has spent very little, but has garnered more than $50 million of earned media (i.e. free media) just by calling in to the cable news shows and weathering barrage after barrage of questions from moderators.
As was said on Morning Joe by Scarborough when chided by the other candidates about giving so much face time to Trump..."all candidates have been invited to call in just like Trump does, yet none have been willing to do so because they are unwilling to face the questions the way Trump does."
Joe even begged the other candidates to call in--said he would take their calls any time. But the phone never rang.
And Rafael Edward Cruz sleeps with trial attorneys and people from Wall Street!!!!!!! Damn them Cruzes!
“Donald Trump leads in the polls, but Ted Cruz looks more like the favorite”
I’m glad I’m not the only one that reads these headlines, and wonder how more disconnected from reality can these people possibly get!
Your such a hypocrite about jumping on Cruz threads. While you do the same on Trump ones.
Will he not win Washington DC also??
Cruz is for legal status (amnesty) for illegals. IMHO that makes Cruz unacceptable.
No, Goldman Sachs is far more dangerous. I’m done voting for hacks just because they are republicans.
