DALLAS Democratic Sen. Wendy Davis said Saturday its absurd to suggest its too late for her to overtake Republican Attorney General Greg Abbott in the race for governor
Davis, pausing to speak to reporters after a breakfast speech at the Texas Democratic Convention, said her campaign will have the resources to compete with Abbott.
He has a substantial war chest, years in the making, and his campaign recently confirmed to the Express-News that he has reserved $10 million of airtime in October ahead of the general election. Davis, however, has raised millions since announcing last year, and observers are eagerly awaiting the next campaign finance report to gauge her firepower.
Davis said shell have money, but more than money, for the campaign to November.
Were going to have the resources that we need, and we are going to be competitive not only on television, but I can assure you this theres no way he can match us on the ground. Weve already got 18,000 people volunteering on the ground for us in this campaign, and its only June, Davis said. And as we get closer and closer to the election, I expect that that number will increase dramatically.(continued)

Abortion Barbie is done, and with her loss (which will be crushing), so goes the Democrat money uselessly flooding the state for the ‘TurnTexasS**tColor’ campaign.
We thought McDaniel would beat old Cochran handily. I’m not taking anything for granted any more.
Insanity. ... there’s almost something fine about it.
Abbott would have to come out for amnesty to lose this race.
She will have everything on her side but the truth. I guess that doesn’t count.
If true, 18,000 is a LOT of volunteers. We need to counter or risk losing again.
Give it up, Abortion Barbie.
Considering that reportedly almost half a million people turned out for the Gay Pride parade in Houston this weekend, anything really is possible. I also believe I remember reading that if all the people who voted for Obama the first time had shown up to vote for Bill White when he ran against Perry, White would have been elected Governor.
It’s all about the turnout and the Democrats have four months. We best not become complacent.
Remember here in Tx we have quite a new influx of transplants now. I don’t think Windy wins but she may not lose by as much as expected.
Never understimate the number of morons who vote and she would be a disaster of a governor for Tx. Perish the thought and her bid too.
Wendy Davis huh?
Not too sure Texas is ready for Elizabeth (big squaw)Warren part two.
Phony lying bitch.
There are a lot of ways a candidate can ‘spend’ contributed cash with a little creative accounting.
I predict Abbott wins by 10-12%.
