That's the question Kathleen Casillo encountered last year. Now she's in court, and her life may be ruined.
Anyone with a modicum of common sense understands that a person shouldn't try to block a road with his body and then proceed to intimidate and threaten the drivers he's forced to stop. When push comes to shove, protesters in the middle of the road aren't going to win the battle against a two-ton vehicle, especially if they really make a person fear for his life and the lives of his passengers. It's just a good rule of thumb, if you happen to be an Antifa or Black Lives Matter protester, to keep your big, dumb, non-caring, socially unacceptable butt out of the middle of the street and try to actually protest peacefully for a change, and you won't get run over.
In December of 2020, Kathleen Casillo found herself in just such a predicament. She was forced to stop her car near the intersection of 39th Street and Third Avenue around 4:00 P.M. CST, where she and her twenty-nine year old daughter were immediately surrounded and attacked by a howling mob of BLM "mostly peaceful" protesters, who jumped on her car and attempted to smash the windows and open the doors, for the purpose of dragging one or both women out of the car. They were screaming, "White privilege b----" at the women as all of this occurred.
Fearing for her life and her daughter's life, Kathleen floored the gas and sped off — rightfully so, and in self-defense — injuring nine protesters (one seriously) in the process. Who wouldn't, when trapped in the same set of circumstances?
Many men would be equally fearful and afraid for their lives, especially if they recalled the 1992 L.A. riots,

For me it is as this: Just because I'm a civilized, law-abiding, tax-paying productive member of society doesn't obligate me to be food for predators, particularly those cultivated and aided by the governing, so-called elites. Nor the elites themselves, or, more accurately, their henchmen. The people giving the orders are very good at keeping their own skin out of the game.
I have always worked to avoid the hellholes that leftist insanity inevitably creates, like open sores on the body of our nation. But if put comes to shove, I will push it right off the planet.
I'd guess that in the time it took me to post this, those NSA data-centers have already harvested and mined what I have said. So be it.
I have 2ea G18 mags with 1ea G17 mag in t he mag well and 1ea G15 mag in a magnholder on the front edge of a holster it lays in. In all, about 100 rounds ready.
Fearing for her life and her daughter’s life, Kathleen floored the gas and sped off — rightfully so, and in self-defense.
She understood she was her first responder case closed.
Fight fire with fire. South Africa did that:

If you choose to live in a lunatic asylum (= NYC), you should expect the occasional unpleasant encounter with the lunatics.
As with guns, this depends on the state.
Many states allow that if the driver senses significant risk, he has the right to plow through people.
The blue states would rule against the driver.
If I’m on the jury, she gets a complete ‘walk’ from this.
Good flowchart, but need to insert “turn around, even if you are in a one-way street” somewhere in there.
My view:
First line of defense: Find or develop a reliable source of intel on these protests and monitor it. News, twitter feed, local anarchist message board, network of friends, whatever. Wherever the protest is, be somewhere else.
Second line of defense: Vehicle. Immediately drive (1) away, (2) around, or (3) through, in that order. I don’t care if you are in a one-way road or the detour adds an hour to your trip: If you can drive away rather than through, do it. Also, the car will protect you far better than any gun, so leave it holstered and drive. Speed is life.
Third line of defense: Gun. But if you’re using this to defend yourself from an angry mob, you’re in a world of hurt regardless of the immediate outcome.
LOL, right you are!
When BLM was rioting and they and Antifa were stopping cars, DeSantis and our Florida Sherriffs told us to keep driving. You don’t speed up, don’t try to hit people but you keep moving. If folks don’t get out of the way it’s their problem.
The result of these words?
We didn’t have liberal goons and thugs dragging innocent people from cars. And we didn’t have Antifa or BLM blocking roads.
I don’t know.
I looked it up!
US Constitution
Article 4 Section 3: New states and federal property
Clause 1: Admission of new states
Main article: Admission to the Union
See also: List of U.S. states by date of admission to the Union
New States may be admitted by the Congress into this Union; but no new States shall be formed or erected within the Jurisdiction of any other State; nor any State be formed by the Junction of two or more States, or parts of States, without the Consent of the Legislatures of the States concerned as well as of the Congress.
I can’t see both legislatures & Congress agreeing!
Seems like a long shot. Thanks for the info.
Pay attention to caliber and shooting through glass, and carry a couple of extra mags because the jngle-minded terrorist run in packs.
Just remember REGINALD DENNY!
The ANIMALS who almost beat him to death were also BLACK!
ping and FLOOR IT! (the gas pedal)
Thanks for that account. There are numerous stories like that which made it into the news from back then. Of course there was the driver that hit and killed a woman on I-5 that was blocking the freeway. I haven’t tried to find out what happened to the driver.
Another guy got caught up in a protest taking a wrong turn right into them. His car got mobbed, broken windows, people starting to grab him. He fired his pistol and escaped and was later arrested. Two years later I can’t find any news on what happened to him.
Call the corporal of the guard.
To come and drag their dead ass away.
Old boot camp story....
The only way to get a bully to stand down is to face up to him.
And this precisely is the situation.
