Bunch of animals. Wanna bet nobody's prosecuted under that fat pig Alvin Bragg?
-
To lift a line from the immortal Dean Wormer: “Fat, drunk, and stupid is no way to go through life…” here amended to fat and stupid. Case in point, Alvin Bragg, now the Manhattan district attorney, and a guy who never met a calzone he didn’t eat. Calzones deserve a better fate. Bragg -- who badly wants to carve up Donald J. Trump, but won’t -- was boosted into office in November 2021 in yet another spasm of virtue signaling by the Rotted Apple’s smart set, and whose campaign was lubed by dollars from George Soros to the aptly named...

That's the question Kathleen Casillo encountered last year. Now she's in court, and her life may be ruined. Anyone with a modicum of common sense understands that a person shouldn't try to block a road with his body and then proceed to intimidate and threaten the drivers he's forced to stop. When push comes to shove, protesters in the middle of the road aren't going to win the battle against a two-ton vehicle, especially if they really make a person fear for his life and the lives of his passengers. It's just a good rule of thumb, if you happen...

Pins reminded me that last year’s 9/11 post was the last time we heard from notmysocks who sadly passed the next day. So for this week’s Throwback Thursday, and in keeping with this week’s spirit of “never forget” I’m reposting the MOTUS Twilight Nocturn Lounge sendoff we held in Sock’s honor nearly a year ago. We miss you, dear friend, along with Bunni, GreetingsFromYonkers, and JanicetheElder – as well as many others who are MIA. The Lounge is now open We’re gathered here this evening to provide our old friend, notmysocks, a proper MOTI sendoff to her just reward. So...

Embattled attorney Michael Avenatti will have a busy day in Manhattan federal court Tuesday -- but as a defendant, not as counsel. Avenatti, 49, is scheduled to be arraigned on charges that he tried to extort up to $25 million from athletic apparel giant Nike by threatening to expose claims that the shoemaker paid off high school basketball players to steer them to Nike-sponsored colleges. He also is scheduled to be arraigned on charges that he stole nearly $300,000 from adult film actress Stormy Daniels, the client who rocketed him to national prominence. In the Nike case, Avenatti is charged...

A Manhattan judge has ruled that a bar that ordered patron who was wearing a "Make America Great Again" hat to leave had a right to do so under the New York constitution. The judge rejected Greg Piatek's argument that he wore his MAGA hat to pay "spiritual tribute" to 9/11 victims and was thus discriminated against for his religious beliefs. Instead, the judge cited the state constitution which does not bar discrimination based on politics. Washington Times: “The purpose of the hat is that he wore it because he was visiting the 9/11 Memorial,†Piatek attorney Paul Liggierisaid in court Wednesday, according...

President Barack Obama insists that Americans have to take climate change seriously, or else a key part of one the world’s greatest cities could end up underwater. “When scientists tell us that the planet is getting warmer and we need to do something about it, the majority of people think that’s a good idea, let’s do something about that, because we don’t want Manhattan to be underwater,” Obama said during a fundraiser in New York City. Obama observed that people are frustrated by the current presidential election campaign. “The bad news is that our politics has been a little screwed...

The Mumbai, India terrorist attacks should serve as a reminder that terrorism is real, tangible, and a threat everywhere...waiting only for the right opportunity to explode. And, try as we all do to engage in denial, the reality is that it is only a matter of time before a Mumbai-style event occurs on American soil. Back in 1993, right after the first World Trade Center bombing, I was talking with a friend of mine who was raised in Israel. I opined that it would be a relatively simple matter for terrorists to stage simultaneous attacks on, say, a dozen shopping...

WASHINGTON, March 24, 2008 – What began in 1919 as simple lodging for servicemembers returning from World War I has since become a “jewel in the heart of Manhattan,” with an expanding mission that includes supporting deployed troops. “The main effort of the Soldiers’, Sailors’, Marines’, Coast Guard & Airmen’s Club is to provide reasonably priced accommodations to servicemen and women, as well as any members of the (New York Police Department and New York Fire Department) in order to express our gratitude for all of their efforts,” said Connie Morinello, one of the organization’s committee members. In addition,...

There's something unusual floating in the waters off Manhattan. Thirty-five years after it was first thought of -- artist Robert Smithson's ``Floating Island'' is a barge covered with soil, trees, shrubs and rocks, led by a tugboat. It will along the Hudson and East rivers beginning today. Smithson was one of the most significant artists of the 1960s, who was very interested in exploring nature and landscapes, and how they were constructed. He came up with ``Floating Island'' in 1970 and unsuccessfully tried to bring it to life. He died in 1973 at age 35 after a plane crash. For...

In their attempt to curtail repeat sexual predators, some members of the City Council are taking a cue from the reality television show "Survivor" and trying to vote them off the island. A bill co-sponsored by 14 council members would effectively exile ex-convicts classified as medium- and high-risk sex offenders from Manhattan. The legislation, written by the council's Republican leader, James Oddo of Staten Island, would bar Level 2 and Level 3 offenders from living, working, and "loitering" within a quarter-mile radius of schools, parks, playgrounds, and day-care centers. Violations would be punishable by up to six months in jail...

The News' Heidi Evans and daughter Alex Shopping for food is an art form when you are dealing with minimum wages. I've spent most of my 20 years in journalism writing about the struggles of the less fortunate. The notion that many hardworking people don't have an easy life in my city is hardly a huge revelation. But living on $206 a week - minimum wage for 40 hours of work - was a sobering and enlightening experience. I recommend it to Gov. Pataki, Joe Bruno, Sheldon Silver and every politician in the state as they consider their vote...
