Ivermectin, hydroxychloroquine off-label prescription bill passes Kansas Senate in late-night vote

Kansas senators early Thursday morning narrowly passed a bill that would force pharmacists to fill unproven off-label prescriptions for drugs intended to treat or prevent COVID-19.

The bill's promotion of ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine has been a priority of right-wing Republicans, as well as its protection for doctors against health board investigations and anti-vaccine mandate measure.

The Senate worked on a host of bills into the early morning hours in a marathon session. The off-label drug bill, HB 2280, passed 21-16 shortly before 1:30 a.m.

"Thousands of Kansans and hundreds of thousands of Americans have died because of this propaganda that shut down early treatment," said Sen. Mark Steffen, R-Hutchinson. "I fully believe that this passage of this bill through the Senate will gain national attention and help be a very important part of getting the care to the people who need it."

The bill would allow doctors to prescribe ivermectin, hydroxychloroquine and any other FDA-approved drug that isn't a controlled substance for an off-label use to prevent or treat COVID-19.

It further requires pharmacists to fill the prescriptions, removing their professional discretion to refuse to fill a prescription, unless they find a reason other than the connection to COVID-19.

"With this provision, a doctor can write a prescription for abortion medication under the guise of COVID, and the pharmacist must fill it," said Cindy Holscher, D-Overland Park, who opposed the bill.

Another piece protects doctors from board of healing arts investigations connected to the pandemic, prohibiting any "recommendation, prescription, use or opinion" on COVID-19 treatments from being considered unprofessional conduct.

The bill also expands existing religious exemptions for childhood wellness vaccines at schools and day cares. It effectively creates a new exemption where any parent can claim a moral or ethical exemption to any youth vaccinations.

Of course it’s late night, on a Saturday no less. The Dems don’t want to admit they were wrong about Trump’s assessments to begin with. We could have avoided so much stuff had not folks behaved right and worked for the good of the people of America.

My wife has been on HCQ for decades. The pharmacist suddenly refused to fill her prescription about a year ago. It took a lot of pressure to get them to start filling it again.

It’s from last week, Thursday, March 24. I’d been looking for another article, couldn’t find it and posted this one instead. What I’d wanted to post was an article that might include the letter that their Senate Leader, Mark Steffen, MD sent to health care providers. You can read it here:

The only thing that is "unproven" about Ivermectin is its profit potential for Big Pharma. Unlike the "jab" it is proven safe. And there is plenty of evidence that it is effective in some situations and this is very well documented on this excellent web cite: https://ivmmeta.com/

And it is up to the Doctor to determine if it is effective in particular situations. And Doctors and Pharmacists who have been under unfair attack who wish to give it to patients in the circumstances in which it is effective need Big Pharma corruption to quit stepping on their throat.

I posted here just over a week ago that I had been taking Ivermectin IAW the Zelenko prophylaxis protocol, then switched to Zelenko's treatment protocol (which adds HCQ) when I tested positive for the Fauci Flu. My fever broke less than 24 hours from commencing the treatment protocol and I was essentially symptom-free in 36 hours.

TOTALLY no collusion or intimidation behind closed doors.

We can never ever trust our "doctors" or "pharmacists" again.

It would be tragic for people taking these worthless remedies until they become critically ill; because of false hope they would be cured.

The facts show that HCQ and Ivermectin in proper dosage with Zinc and Azi within a few days of first symptoms cures people fast.

I wish I had one of them when I got it.

Read RFK’s book and stop spreading lies.

You ought to be banned off FR.

Trump’s “assessments” were for HCQ. However HCQ did not save him. It was monoclonal-antibody therapy that was at that time in small supply.

At that time it was a drug made in large stainless-steel tanks using genetically engineered ovary cells from hamsters. Like all living things, they grew only so fast. The tanks are also sophisticated pieces of equipment that can take months to install.

To be a successful therapy doctors will have to make the decision early in the course of illness, before those patients get seriously sick. Trump had the benefit of daily testing. Monoclonal antibodies are likely to work best when the virus is still trying to gain a foothold in the body. In general, you want to stop the replication of a microbe—in this case, the virus—at the earliest point in time. But stopping the virus depends on patients being able to get tested for COVID-19 early, receive their results quickly, and go to a hospital that stocks an experimental treatment before they really even need hospitalization—like President Trump did.

You "switched to Zelenko's treatment protocol (which adds HCQ) when I tested positive for the Fauci Flu. My fever broke less than 24 hours from commencing the treatment protocol and I was essentially symptom-free in 36 hours."

Did you have the Omicron variant? The Omicron variant is said to be a more mild infection.

RFK is a sleaze-ball grifter! I wouldn’t read his book if it was doused in Holy Water.

Good clinical studies for HCQ were done with zinc. Zinc did not help. HCQ is at best a placebo effect. As for the use of zinc with ivermectin, why would one use zinc with that? Ivermectin is not a zinc ionophore. That’s scientific language for the ability of a chemical to draw zinc inside the cell. The scientists would laugh if you thought ivermectin could.

For your reading:

“The treatment teams in the Egyptian universities, which incorporated infectious diseases consultants and clinical pharmacists, adopted the importance of integration of zinc into the treatment protocol of treatment. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first clinical trial investigating the role of the addition of zinc to hydroxychloroquine in the treatment of COVID 19 patients.

The main hypothesis behind this approach was the fact that zinc was proven to have an inhibitory effect on the RNA-dependent RNA polymerase of SARS-CoV in cell culture [17, 18]. Moreover, CQ and HCQ are known to increase the intracellular concentrations of zinc and thus enhance its effect [18].

Despite these proved benefits of zinc in the literature, this study found that zinc supplements did not enhance the clinical efficacy of HCQ.

There are a lot of questions now about the efficacy of CQ or HCQ in the treatment of COVID 19 patients. A recent randomized study found that adding HCQ to standard care did not add significant benefit, did not decrease the need for ventilation, and did not reduce mortality rates in COVID-19 patients.”

You may also note that the study was done by Egyptian scientists who have no connections to big U.S. Pharma.

Inaccurate claims about ivermectin being used to treat COVID-19 in Japan, a country where almost 80% of the population is fully vaccinated, have resurfaced online.

As previously debunked by Reuters on Nov. 1, 2021 ( here ), the drug is not approved by Japan’s medical regulator as a COVID-19 treatment.

Allegations the country has “revoked” or “dropped” a vaccine mandate are also misleading: Japan never imposed such a measure to begin with. To read the fact-checked article concerning your false graph, go here:

https://www.reuters.com/article/factcheck-japan-ivermectinandmandate/fact-check-japan-has-not-authorized-ivermectin-to-treat-covid-19-or-revoked-a-vaccine-mandate-idUSL1N2TX1GK

You anti-vaxxer fanatics are like wack-a-moles. You have become a religious cult! As soon as one of your false claims are debunked, another shows up. I can list pages of those false claims and sure enough, there you go. And I go
WHACK!!!
