A star New Jersey high school athlete who went on to play football at Yale and Monmouth universities died on Friday after completing the grueling first phase of U.S. Navy SEAL training called “Hell Week,” the Navy announced.

Seaman Kyle Mullen, 24, of Manalapan, died Friday evening at a hospital in Coronado, California, near San Diego. The cause of his death is under investigation, the Navy said.

“We extend our deepest sympathies to Seaman Mullen’s family for their loss,” said Rear Admiral H.W. Howard III, commander, Naval Special Warfare Command. “We are extending every form of support we can to the Mullen family and Kyle’s classmates.”

Earlier on Friday, Mullen and his Basic Underwater Demolition SEAL (BUD/S) class successfully completed “Hell Week,” an assessment candidates must pass for further selection as a SEAL. Mullen was not actively training at the time of his death, the Navy said.

“He was a great kid with a big smile on his face. He was funny, very smart, very talented, able to accomplish everything he wanted to,” said Mike Hammer, who was his travel soccer league coach. “He was just an awesome kid.”

Mullen was a linebacker and tight end at Manalapan and led the Braves to a 2014 Central Jersey Group V state title, and was named team most valuable player. He caught a touchdown and had a sack in the 21-7 victory over South Brunswick.

He was a six-time letter winner in football and basketball season, according to his Yale biography. He also was on the Honor Roll and a member of the National Honor Society.

“We are all heartbroken to hear of Kyle’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of Kyle’s family and friends during this difficult time,” said Charles B. Sampson, Freehold Regional High School District superintendent.

Mullen played forward on the Manalapan basketball team, scoring 266 points in his senior year, according to NJ.com sports stats.

“He was a really talented basketball player and football player,” Hammer recalled. He was an extremely smart guy, just a great kid,” Hammer said.

In 2015, he went on to Yale, where he played in seven games in his freshman year. In 2017, Mullen was named to the All Ivy League second-team, and in 2018 was named team captain, according to Yale.

In 2019, he played a fifth-year season at Monmouth University, seeing action all season and finishing with 26 tackles and five sacks.

The question needs to be asked, given the vaccine that everyone it the military was forced to take, did it cause the death of this young man in any way .

The Navy Seal I know best is currently working for a vaccine company and is best/close friends with Chris Heinz/Hunter Biden — respectively.

Bet this poor soul got the jab.

BTW — I no longer acknowledge ANY friendship with above said Navy Seal.

Such a pity...

Why was a Yale graduate only a seaman? Seems strange he wasn’t an officer.

Probably because he wanted to be a special forces operator. Officers don't get to be the point of the spear, so to speak.

Our military is overrun by corporate sellouts, very friendly with authoritarian politicians. I no longer support the military for anything - USO a prime example. They lost me with Milley, Vindman, and a host of others. The advice I give to young men is to steer clear of today’s military if they love their country.

What was the Navy Seal’s cause of death?

A. Drowning in Bathtub
B. Congenital heart defect
C. Vaccine induced Myocardial Infarction

“Officers don’t get to be the point of the spear”

You probably wouldn’t want to say that to anybody who worked with Lt. Michael Murphy.

Our family now toasts with thank God for peanut allergies. A nephew knew he was going in the Air Force since a small child. He was awarded a full 4 year ROTC scholarship at his senior awards banquet. An Air Force Officer presented it in front of the entire student body.
A week after graduation, his ROTC scholarship was rescinded due to a peanut reaction when he was 8 years old. The family worked with the doctors to make a determination during the year that he was going through physicals and applying.

He graduates college in May and will not being serving under Biden. Thank God for peanut allergies.

No doubt he's hoping some $$$$ and opportunity can spin off that relationship. The chances are far high that he'll get trouble instead.

And

Not actively training at the time

That is strange. Sounds suspicious to me. One more hospitalized? WTH? What is the other one hospitalized for?

Does DoD do anything right anymore?
