A mechanic totaled a $3.4 million Ferrari when he smashed into a tree stump on a test drive.

The bright red Enzo sports car, one of only 400 made, had two wheels ripped off and may be irreparable.

Local reports suggest a dealership mechanic was behind the wheel. He escaped unhurt but was taken to the hospital for a check-up.

A witness to Tuesday’s smash in Baarn, Netherlands, said: “I think he wanted to turn back to the dealership.”

They added: “The local Ferrari dealer is about one and a quarter miles away from the scene. It’s a customer-owned car.

Just 400 of the mid-engine dream cars left the Ferrari production line between 2002 and 2004.

Despite costing $609,921 at launch, Enzos have massively increased in value.

A 2003 Ferrari Enzo was sold in August 2021 by RM Sotheby’s for $3,360,000.

I’m guessing the mechanic is now employed at Jiffy Lube?

“Hi, Mr Smith? I know we said your car would be ready to pickup Saturday. Well, there’s been a little delay.”

Oops!
"It hit it on the passenger side and the stump was damaged."
But was the stump injured? Is the stump in the ICU today? Or did the Stump's DNR read "take me to the chipper"?

And, just for absolutely insane woke grammatical fun...

"The mechanic was taking it for a test drive when they hit a stump, totaling the multi-million dollar vehicle.

I know how that can feel.

Many years ago when I had a mid engine Italian thing.

I knew some who were tuners and rally drivers,

Anyway i got custom cans from this guy and he wanted to drive the car...

Something tells me that if the owner of the car could afford that one, he can probably afford a replacement.....

I feel bad for the mechanic.

A similar event happened a few years ago in San Antonio. A dealership valet took a customer’s Ferrari for a joy ride and smashed it up. Not an Enzo but still a pricey wreck.

*400*. Yeah, not so much! There’s an online owner registry that has more than 400 entries on it. (With VINs).

Anyway, yeah, sucks to be that mechanic.

A tree stump? And I thought potholes in the road were a problem.
