Microsoft-Led Team Retracts Quantum 'Breakthrough'
BBC ^ | 3/9/22 | Cody Godwin and James Clayton

A Microsoft-led team has withdrawn a controversial research paper into quantum computing, published in 2018.

The research claimed to have found evidence of an elusive subatomic particle Microsoft suggested could help the development of more powerful computers.

But it now says mistakes were made.

The journal Nature has published a retraction. And the paper's authors have apologised for "insufficient scientific rigour".

But the company has said it remains confident of its wider efforts on quantum computing.

The paper had been hailed as a breakthrough.

But some scientists remained sceptical.

Quantum computing has been seen as a potentially revolutionary leap forward, promising to complete some tasks much faster.

In classical computers, the unit of information, or "bit", can have a value of either one or nought.

Sounds like they were just trying to fit in with the political activists and ideological martinets who masquerade as scientists in pretty much every scientific specialty.

For us conservatives it is going to take a huge Quantum leap of Faith for us to believe anything they say.

So, a quantum bit can be both on and off at the same time. Sounds like the fictitious “Shrodinger’s cat” that is said to be both alive and dead at the same time.

I’ll stick to binary logic if you don’t mind, where a bit is either on or off, but not both, and the cat is happily gobbling Fancy Feast and physicists are forever trying to understand reality, but fail.

This is going to be news to Trump who spent $78 billion of our money to build a quantum computer and god knows how much more to get Star Link built and in orbit for the quantum financial system. 😏

The big tech “Woke Blokes” can’t differentiate “political science” from “physical science”, it seems.

Maybe this story is correct or is it possible, given all the recent deceit, Gates and Company released this story to keep knowledge of a new technology from the riff-raff?

You're getting called out on that claim.

No references, no citations = just more 'jackassin

LOL!!! Am pretty healthy, but you never know!

Concern troll = a term used by posters that can't argue the facts.

Hmm...

Their errors included:

* having "unnecessarily corrected" some of the data and not having made this clear

* mislabelling a graph, making it misleading

Diddling the raw data and stretching the axes - these guys have a future in climate science...

Read later. So, DemonicRats are inventing fake science, because actual scientific truth is against them?
