An underground shrine to Romulus is plausible, but a sarcophagus is contrary to the tradition that Romulus disappeared in a whirlwind. If there is a sarcophagus, then the alternative account gains credence — that a jealous Senate tore Romulus limb from limb.

What evidence is there that the sarcophagus they found belongs to THE Romulus, legendary founder of Rome? I mean, is he the only one who ever bore that name? Odds are, probably not.
