Former Rep. Ron Paul said he wished President Trump would "flip-flop" his policy on Iran and criticized Trump's loyalty to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Saudi Arabia.
"I think our country is not doing so well. Our foreign policy is in shambles," the Texas Republican said. "Unfortunately, the one place where I wish he would flip-flop every once in a while or change his policy completely is dealing with Iran. He is steady on it, he said it on the campaign. He's very loyal to Netanyahu and Saudi Arabia."
Trump authorized airstrikes that killed Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani and Iraqi militia leader Mahdi al Muhandis.
A leader of the conservative anti-interventionist movement, Paul made a career out of promoting anti-war foreign policy points. His son Sen. Rand Paul mirrored his father's comments this afternoon when called Trump's actions "feckless."
Ron Paul, who ran for president as a Libertarian in 1988 and then as a Republican in 2008 and 2012, suggested the president is digging a hole that offers "no easy way out."
"I think this chaos has been tremendously increased, and it's hard to figure out how they can work their way out," Paul said. "But, it's a hole that's been dug for a long time, but I think the hole by Trump has gotten much deeper and much faster, and there's no easy way out. Overall, it represents the stupidity of the interventionist foreign policy."
Paul's co-host, Daniel McAdams, suggested that if Democrats want to impeach the president, they should focus on Thursday's unilateral decision to strike military leaders in Iraq.
"If you wanted to impeach Trump, I think this would be a decent thing to do," McAdams said. "Without any authorization from Congress, he sent a drone or helicopter to assassinate a foreign political and military leader from a country with which we are not at war."
“How did the President get the Iranians to attack the US Embassy in Baghdad?”
He didn’t. But I think Alex Jones is onto something with his theory yesterday. He said Kerry and the Obama crew has been meeting with the Iranians and told them an embassy attack would make Trump look weak and help with the impeachment.
I think he is onto something and something like that was in the background of the embassy attack.
No one cares about either of the Pauls...
Sadly, when it comes to national security and protecting our country from terrorists and terrorist states, Rand Paul sounds like Bernie Sanders. https://t.co/OGEMNRfLyj— Mark R. Levin (@marklevinshow) January 5, 2020
I think Paul’s perms are rotting his brain.
When Ron Paul talks sensibly, he is well worth listening to. Unfortunately, he rarely talks sensibly.
Pound sand
How could it not be when your own countrymen betray you on a daily basis. Our foreign policy is still better than it has any right to be.
Correction: Ron not Rand, but I repeat myself.
Dementia and Alzheimer; telling Ron to shut up won’t help. Poor guy.
Flasback (2011)-Ron Paul does an interview with Iran state TV in which he slams Israel for creating “concentration camps” in Gaza, and apologizes for Islamic terrorism:

Correction-this is from 2009.
Avenge is the verb, not revenge.
The US is never going to be an isolationist country again and Paul just doesn’t understand that. Anything less than that is a shambles according to the Paul family doctrine. Trump is pulling back from being in everyone’s business but you can’t pull back so far as to allow your own countryman to be murdered and threatened without consequences.
Trump’s America First foreign policy seems to be moving ahead with the world, the deep state, the establishment and isolationist all fighting it so Trump must be over the target because of all the flak he’s taking from all sides.
Says the guy so dumb, he got conned into a Sacha Baron Cohen movie and actually believed he was there for something other than propaganda.
Ah yes.
Wrong Paul, who happily toured the morning talk shows after the ‘90 to ‘91 war elucidating his theory that using armored bulldozers and tanks with plow attachments to fill in trenches instead of charging them with knives and bayonets was tantamount to a war crime.
I had just gotten back after some months of waiting in an eternal Twilight of burning oil smoke.
Still somewhat pissed.
Shouldn’t he be just dead already? Joined Helen Thomas and the rest of the Washington crowd who identified with Saddam’s troops?
Dr. Demento just needs to shut up. Already been enough of his lunacy polluting the political process.
RINO libertarian.
Apparently to Ron- a ‘functional foreign policy’ would include signing a pact to keep our hands high in the air in surrender, and denouncing God and converting to Islam
What’s up with Texas? They can shoot straight in church, but can’t produce a decent politician. I think it’s the breeding stock. You have to combine the right sort of horse’s asses. No more of these thoroughbred asses. Use a few wild mustang’s asses to mix with the Morgans and the Arabians.
