It’s time to admit most traditional martial arts are fake and don’t actually teach you how to fight

His description of a hockey fight is epic ... and 100% accurate. LOL.

This guy is a moron ... articles like this give the untrained a false sense of security. I’ve been teaching Okinawan karate for over 30 years. I’ll guarantee that any of my intermediate ... not even black belt ... students will do quite well against your garden variety untrained bar bully. I actually take my students to local bars .. not to pick fights but to teach them where to sit ... locate the surveillance cameras ... locate the available weapons and to identify the potential opponents. This article is obviously written by someone who may have trained for a month or so ... if even that .. who thinks that they know the martial arts but doesnt really know anything. In other words .. hes talking out his ass

My son was a black belt when he was about 10 years old. He had an adult sparring partner that was champion in our region. She let her guard down and my son broke her nose even with head gear and gloves. I’m sure she would have begged to differ that martial arts is fake.

I’d certainly like to see an MMA trained badass go up against a Kung Fu San Soo trained badass.

There are definitely no rules in a fight.

You are not fighting for sparring points.

Furthermore, almost every fight is going to the ground. If you can’t ground fight, you’re done.

We can all look at Conor McGregor for evidence of that.

I remember that.

I was about 12 or so when I pushed this guy down a canal bank for hitting me with his nunchuka.

He was down there for a bit sprawled out, then he came back up and punched me in my jaw, then I ran away.

Nobody ever told me about that. Thanks, dad. Ow.

I know it doesn't look as cool as all those really fine martial arts, but for me (at almost 86), First Degree Black Belts in 12 ga, 10 mm, 45 cal, 7.62, and 30-06 will always give me confidence for street-fighting here in MD...

The last 10-years of aging has made me dependent on them... Particularly if the fight is going to last more than 60-sec.

My brother is still into Jeet Kune Do and the same with his Marines college buddy. He said there’s only one thing he fears more than a bigger opponent...a lawsuit.

Check out the Youtube vids of each martial artist. They ALWAYS WARN you about the “legal” repercussions and you better prepare for those too..

When I was regularly taking my karate class you would not want to have messed with me. I would have done some serious damage.

Correct. I wish I had a dime for everyone who got taken to the floor when someone caught their leg during a kick. Most fights are won by the person who is firstest with the mostest. That’s why I don’t fight. I carry a knife. Let them get in close and use the blade. You can do that when you are old.

And that is it, The knowledge and physical shape is what’s important. Anyone who has had years of Martial arts training and are any good becomes unorthodox in a real street fight. It ain’t the movies, you completely forget about form and do the deed as quick as possible with just a few blows without any rules.

Poke the eyes, slap the ears, then nail the adam’s apple followed with a couple kicks to the groin as fast as possible. Then finish him or run like hell. He’s done and you are gone. This is the true object of martial arts, not to stand there and trade punches back and forth like a John Wayne movie or a ring fight.

It is life or death survival on the street, it is you or him, and martial arts does indeed teach you how to do this very effectively and quickly.
