I am hoping for a deal, but I draw the line at a used cell phone. I don’t even like to hold someone I know’s phone, much less one from lord knows who. The iPhone 8 is a contender, thanks.

Some of them aren’t used at all. . . Just extras from quantity orders to large companies, or retail returns from people who may not even have taken them out of the boxes. Those would be those that are newer models and obvious. All of them are taken back to Apple, stripped to components, cleaned, given new batteries, reassembled, new chargers, new accessories such as earbuds, etc. and reboxed. It’s not at all like buying a “used” iPhone. They do the same with computers. They come looking like new with a new warranty.

What does it mean for a smart phone to be "more powerful"?

It means you can talk 10 times faster. Read 100 times faster. Type 10,000 words a minute. Listen 1,000 times faster. View videos a million times faster. And get spied on a zillion times faster.

Plus, when you drop your phone, it hits the ground 20 times faster. And, it becomes obsolete 100 times faster, because, it doesn't come with 5G.

I’ve bought used devices from swappa.com, mainly tablets, and they are a good place to find a deal on slightly used tech that’s only a year old or so.

The r4ason that phones are selling well now is to avoid 5G!

Only an imbecile would want to carry a 5G phone.

You will be an imbecile in a year or two, if not sooner. Nobody will be able to avoid it, and all phones will eventually come with 5G, and besides, it's already available, though not widely. Can't avoid progress. Are you still on 2G?

FWIW, you folks snarking at Apple’s prices should know that Samsung’s aren’t any lower.

Anecdotal, for sure, but it's what my experience is.

Suppose you got unlucky, most people do put them in some kind of shock absorbent case. The do extensive drop testing and a stress test Apple uses some of the best glass available, look at the reopening of the Iconic store in New York, Jobs was fascinated by glass, so whenever they improved it he replaced it. Originally the store was made of shorter pieces of glass and as soon as they improved it enough to replace t with one piece panels they did.

I wondered when the event was to start, and happened to click at the very beginning, or close anyway — there was the little movie, then TC walked out.

It was amusing to listen to it in a background tab while watching the stock price fluctuate in my portfolio. :^) I’ve got a whoppin’ ten shares right now. It’s gone up about $120 in less than two weeks.

If it ever breaks - I’ll go buy another one, No way will I pay $600 - $800 - $1,000 and more for a iPhone.

Have you checked out TracFones? My wife and I bought iPhone 5S devices under the TracFone label for under $199 each, kept them several years before upgrading to iPhone 7 devices again via TracFone for just over $200 each. No expensive contracts, we buy minutes as needed, and enjoy all the features of an iPhone. You don't need to pay more than $300 if you do without the latest model.

I use my Samsung as my primary business phone.

You do understand that Samsung built and owns factories in communist China, and Samsung employs communist workers to build its phones. Apple owns no factories in China, nor does it employ workers other than sales staff in stores there. Samsung is the commie phone!

Yes it’s great! Glad she likes it too. I had the 7 before this one. Love the larger screen and better life. My biggest issue with Apple was the battery. But, so far I’m much happier with this phone.

I bought my mom an IPad (when she was 84) and she loved it. We’d text each other stuff all the time when we weren’t talking or together . I’d send her pics of stuff I saw online or hobbies I was working on and she’d send me stuff too. She had a generic tablet before that and once she started using her ipad, she didn’t turn back. It’s user friendly. She passed away a month ago at 86 y/o and I have the iPad now. It makes me sad. I’ll def keep our chats saved.

I have yet to find a cell phone that qualifies as “attractive”. As everything else I have is Apple make ...I’m going to buy the least expensive.

NorthMountain is correct. The Samsung S10+ Flagship with minimal memory configured for AT&T is $999.00. . . but it’s not available at 0% interest like the iPhone is.

Oh, and you get a phone that’s less than half as fast, in fact with a slower processor than last year’s iPhone XS. . . and one that is vulnerable to multiple millions of Android malware known to exist in the wild and which is always mined of your private data by Google by it’s native operating system.

And a year from now the Apple Cultist will be beyond happy to be shelling out even more when the “fully” 5g capable iPhone XII will be out for $1400

What a load of communist propaganda!!!!

Apple owns no factories in China, nor does it employ workers other than sales staff in stores there.

Apple contracts & manages a large Communist Chinese company (FoxConn) to build the iphones and engages in massive employee abuse.

Samsung is based in SOUTH KOREA.

Apple's CEO "THIMMY" Cook proclaims homosexual queers & perverts are God's "special" people.

"Thimmy" bows at the alter of Communist China and satan.

You are an intellectual moron, at best, and should be ashamed to call yourself a freeper with your dishonesty that is typically broadcast on CNN.

Saul Alinsky, is that you?
