Apple has finally revealed the newest designs in its iPhone lineup.

The firm unveiled the iPhone 11 at the Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino on Tuesday, showing off a handset with a 6.1-inch display that will come in six colors: purple, white, yellow, green, black, and Product Red.

Apple also showed off its new premium model, the iPhone 11 Pro, which will come with either a 5.8-inch or 6.5-inch display.

What does it mean for a smart phone to be "more powerful"? Makes for a better viewing experience of cat videos or porn?

It means that it gathers more information on you than ever before, comrade citizen.

Thus I only buy phones with removable batteries.
I should probably keep mine in a faraday cage just to make sure.

My phone needs are very basic. I’ll spend less than $200. on an LG K40 phone, and be happy with that. I don’t play games on it. I’m not on Facebk/Twitter or Instagram.
This is replacing another LG phone.

One of my few complaints is the size of the new phone. I wish the LG K40 were smaller and lighter. Big ones barely fit into one’s pocket w/o weighing down your pants.

Oh well. I do like that it holds a charge for many hours. My last phone became ‘incontinent’.
All the power would run right through it. Thus requiring several charges each day.

I own a Motorola I got on as a Deal of Day at Amazon for under $150. Meets all my needs. If it breaks or I lose it I don’t care.

I can’t, for the life of me, see the attraction.

I’m going to an iPhone this time around because my car has Apple CarPlay. Hopefully with the release of this new one I can get a deal on last year’s model, which suits my needs fine.

Some apps actually do need significant processing speed, memory, and/or specialized hardware support.

We last bought 2 Samsung j3 orbits @ $100.00 each. Have replaceable batteries. Came with Android 8 and have been upgraded to Android 9.0. Very satisfied with these basic smart phones.

I love my iPhone 6 plus. Had it for 3 years.

If it ever breaks - I’ll go buy another one, No way will I pay $600 - $800 - $1,000 and more for a iPhone.

How long is it supported? I’d hope for at least 5 years - as it is the price of a decent laptop.

Ooooooo! I can hardly wait to not buy it!

Quite seriously, we are happy with our current phones. Unless they spike the OS again we don’t have any compelling need to burn $4,000 on new phones for the family.

The pace of innovation in smart phones has really slowed to a crawl. It’s understandable, this is a mature technology - but I still have to believe Steve Jobs would not have been willing to get on stage to pretend these small incremental changes from last year were worth stopping traffic on Tantau Ave. There was a while there where Apple led the way in consumer electronics innovation - those days seem to be over.

Wise. Why shell out the cash when the previous gen is perfectly serviceable at a significant discount? Typically new or used with a warranty.

I think you’ve nailed the crux of the issue with apple going into the foreseeable future. Without the vision to create and implement products as Jobs was capable, they may be facing some major challenges leading the industry within a few years.

I’ve had my Samsung S7 Edge for 3+ years - works absolutely perfect running Android 8 and functions as my primary work phone.

I’ve no interest in upgrading to a “new technology” phone when my current technology is working more than OK.

It still looks great with the curved edge screen and its high resolution.

And because iPhones are so good it creates a dilemma for Apple.

They make phones so good, that no one needs to buy a new one 2-3 years later.

Like Android people do.
