Local Man Takes Advantage Of 3-Hour DMV Wait To Pen Blog Post Arguing For Government-Run Healthcare

SANTA ANA, CA—When local man Ralph Dunkley found himself in the midst of a three-hour-long wait for a two-minute service at his local DMV office, he decided to redeem the time by pulling out his iPad and carefully pecking out a 5,000-word blog post arguing in favor of a government-run healthcare system in the U.S.

“America is way behind the rest of the civilized world—we need universal healthcare and NOW,” Dunkley typed as dozens of people around him moaned in agony while waiting in their seemingly never-ending DMV purgatory. “The United States government has more than proven its capability of running large-scale operations for its citizenry; for instance, the Department of Motor Vehicles and the Post Office are stellar examples of efficiency and financial prudence.”

“Also–almost forgot—Amtrak. Great performance and NO recent disaster incidents that come to mind. And NASA on top of that! If NASA weren’t doing a world-class job then you would expect a boom in private-company space exploration, to the point where NASA itself might come to rely on the private companies, even. Has anything like that happened? I think not.”

“Someone just let me know when a PRIVATE company shoots the most powerful rocket by a factor of two into space. I won’t hold my breath!” he added.

At publishing time, Dunkley had finally reached the DMV counter, but due to an unexplainable glitch in the system, had to go to the back of the line and start over again.

Three hours will be the wait time to pull a number to enter the lottery to get the next appointment for healthcare.

Evidently the irony of the situation escaped him.

Note: The Babylon Bee.

Although I don’t doubt that the irony is indeed lost on many in this world.

Whenever people talk in favor of universal, government health care, I counter with *They can’t even run the DMV and PO right. I don’t want them in charge of my health care.* (For real, that is not satire)

It usually shuts down the conversation.

I sent my info into DMV on the internet and got my tabs three days later.

The last time I had to go into DMV it was a wait of three minutes in line, and another three to have them print out a new registration.

Oh. In my state (Washington), the DMV is run by a private company. I think I had to pay an extra $5 processing fee on my $200+ Washington state car tabs.

It really surprised me, that as Communist as Washington State is - they went to private DMV years ago.

It’s satire. There never was a 5000 word blog.

At least he did something useful with his time - according to his lights - instead of just staring at his feet.

(I’ve never understood all this moaning about the DMV. I live in ‘the freak state’, right outside of DC; and it’s been 25 years since I’ve had to wait very long at the MVA. Ours has been working very well, so I guess even Maryland is doing better than California...)

Ours has been working very well, so I guess even Maryland is doing better than California...

A couple of years ago I went to the Waldorf Md DMV to title and register a car. It took me 4 hours and I had to deal with the most miserable people I ever saw.

I recently bought another car and used two separate tag and title express locations. It was like night and day, no miserable people and courteous service. Twenty minutes and ten minutes respectively, the extra fees were worth every penny.

I guess it depends on where you are. Our experiences with the location on Rte. 29, Silver Spring/White Oak - where they have both the MVA and the emissions testing - have always been excellent.

(It does help to pay attention to the days/times that they tell you are best.)
