Juan Browne on site...at the spillway...
Thanks. This was interesting. and reassuring.
Looks like it will hold up for now. I think I would have done my report on higher ground and not below it, haha.
I'd say everyone who likes good reporting..flying, motorcycles, and adventure...ought to follow him.
He's a good honest guy!!
Thanks for posting it. Must be reassuring for the folks in that area.
The Spillway is new....and fine.
The emergency spillway..will probably never be used.
IF it is needed...it will be much more able... ie better... to take an emergency.
I used to live in SoCal..
Drought or flooding....was usual...there.
Prolly been that way for thousands of years.....
Heck...kinda that way in OK....too.
Agree on Juan. Excellent reporter.
Problems arise when there are imperfections in the surface. These can cause pressure and flow fluctuations. These can literally hammer away at the concrete and cause it to chip away and fail.
So, as long as Cali allocates enough budget to maintain the structure...but you know, they've got all these bullet trains to fund, sidewalks, street cleanup, illegals to provide medical and legal services to...
Thanks for posting.
This guy seems to provide the best reportage of Oroville.
$1.1 billion would have gone a long way to building the border wall on the southern border. Funny how California gets their money but the president can’t even beg borrow or steal the funds to protect this country from the inflow of illegal criminals.
Original bid was $ 280 M. Blank check written by the state. No rational why the costs exploded.
Looks good, but I wouldn’t consider them completely out of the woods yet, considering how much snow has fallen upstream. That’s why they are releasing the water down the spillway, to prepare for the snowmelt. We’ll see in a few months.
Water flowing in at 20,000 - 25,000 cfs today. During storms its exceeds 100,000 cfs.
Meaning the dam operators...
But this was an infrastructure emergency...
Which...I believe illegals are also....a emergency.
But politics get in the way....That dam was neglected for years....and needed to be fixed.
Not a lot of Politicos..saying it should not. If any.
Sheet load of Pol's don't want illegal's to NOT keep coming.......though.
Big diff....
Didn’t realize his name was Juan Browne.
Where the heck did he come up with the name “blancolirio”?
His wife is Italian....
His wife already had a Youtube account with that name and he started out using her account. And now, why change? I am subscribed to his channel, he’s an airline pilot and does on the ground reporting on Oroville and all sorts of other things that interest him. For instance, he has several videos about the Boeing airplane problem that make quite clear what the problems are. He’s far better and more interesting than the fake news reporters.
So, as long as Cali allocates enough budget to maintain the structure...

Oh, the funds will be *allocated* and special taxes will be put in place to make sure there’s funds to *allocate*.
The only real question is, who’s pocket(s), the funds “allocate” into. It sure won’t be dam(n) maint.
