SRV
So great
He had a great singing voice as well
Another one lost much too young.
I pre-ordered “Texas Flood” on vinyl from Mobile Fidelity months ago - still waiting for them to release it. Ironically, that album was the first I ever got on CD when it came out.
His version of “Honey Bee” still brings me to my feet. And he was great live.

Amen.
The video recording with Stevie Ray and Albert King is great
That cat could really lay down some licks. His muzack never gets old. Only better with age.
Always.
Live at the Montreux is one of his best performances.

I like him during this soundcheck. Look like he just woke up
and then he starts.... :o)
It was 1982 and I was driving from Hobby out Westheimer to a sometime love of my life had let me know while I was off in South America working that when I got back to Miami I was entitled to whats called a booty call weekend
I didnt need much encouraging...leggy blonde southern girl who looked like Olivia Newton John....
Anyhow Im happily tooling along in traffic and listening to I think KLOL which had been underground FM in its heyday and anyhow they played a concert tape of Stevie doing Voodoo Chile
Man was a I floored ....more like Hendrix than Mahogany Rush or Trower were
Just perfect
I told my paramour when I g9t there and she told me his band Double Trouble played around the area frequently
Its funny how you remember first time you heard someone so impressive
My wife of many years...punk rock girl...loves Stevie Ray
Best live show I ever saw in 1986, at a theatre in Boston. The energy was unreal, and Double Trouble was awesome, and in awe of SRV. they shook there heads in disbelief as SRV went at it. Such a loss.......
Caught SRV and Double Trouble June 1984, at the Hollywood Palladium. Great show, not to big of a venue (relatively speaking 5,000 seats) Ahhh the memories.
Around 1983, SRV played at a tiny outside venue here in town; a beautiful, small stage in a pond in a wooded park.
This is the show where Kenny Wayne Shepherd sat on SRV’s amp and watched the man play and become inspired to play guitar.
Alas, I was too cheap to pay the $6.00 admission and tried to sneak in through the surrounding woods. Security was on to me, though, and foiled my every attempt.
I finally gave up after about an hour and left. SRV was just cranking up his strat as I started my car and drove away.
I’ve always regretted not laying down the six bucks. Geez, I was stupid back then.
One of my husband’s favorites.
True dat...
SRV also played lead on Jennifer Warnes’ cover of Leonard Cohen’s “First We Take Manhattan” from the GREAT album “Famous Blue Raincoat” - aka “Jenny Sings Lenny”.

Fun fact...SRV was traveling when he was asked to play on that track. He didn’t have his guitar and had to borrow one in the studio to play.
