he weird habit of licking the end of a paintbrush has revealed new evidence about the life of an artist more than 900 years after her death.

Scientists found tiny blue paint flecks had accumulated on the teeth of a medieval German nun.

The particles of the rare lapis lazuli pigment likely collected as she touched the end of her brush with her tongue.

The researchers say it shows women were more involved in the illumination of sacred texts than previously thought.

I find it very interesting that the lapiz lazuli came all the way from Afghanistan.

Why did this take so long? A blue tooth always has a default password of 0000.

Probably trying to get the bristles to a sharp point. Not as weird a habit as you would think. Van Gogh did the same.

A paint brush licker isn’t necessarily an artist, nor an illuminator of sacred books and scrolls.

Could be she just sneaked into the paint shop after hours and licked the paint brushes.

Or, maybe she whined one time too many to the Mother Superior about wanting to be a painter and had to spend the rest of her days with a paint brush stuck in her mouth as penitence.
