U.S.—In a rash of tragedies all across the United States, every single bump stock in the nation was tragically lost in various boating accidents earlier this week.

Coincidentally, the bump stocks have just been banned by the Trump administration. Since all the bump stocks have been destroyed, it's now impossible for the ATF to confiscate them or fine people who did not destroy them.

"Well, I guess our job is done," an ATF representative said. "We were gonna have to make sure people complied with this unilateral executive order, but now I guess we can just harrass gun owners for other stuff.

How did they intend to get all of them anyway? Go to every household/apartment in the US? Have owners ‘voluntarily’ give them up?

And criminals who have a bump stock will immediately surrender or destroy them. What a joke.

I wonder if they’ll also pull the video’s that show how to make one out of bungee cords or force people with large belly’s to go on a diet.

Seems we need a rehash of the old TV commercial:

SAFE BOATING IS NO ACCIDENT!

Since bump stocks required no background check and not paper work to purchase how will the ATF know if people complied or not?

The only thing I can think of is they can get the manufacturers to report the total number sold and compare that to the number turned in.

But from what I have read, a great number were probably tossed in the trash after one or two uses.

Apparently a lot of people thought they were worthless.

NRA's Wayne LaPierre and Chris Cox Issue Joint Statement

"Despite the fact that the Obama administration approved the sale of bump fire stocks on at least two occasions, the National Rifle Association is calling on the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) to immediately review whether these devices comply with federal law. The NRA believes that devices designed to allow semi-automatic rifles to function like fully-automatic rifles should be subject to additional regulations."

I disagree.

Kinda funny but this issue is not so funny. If this isn't stopped in its tracks it will become widespread. Democrats will find all kinds of stuff we have to surrender.

The President has made a major mistake. A mistake so big it is very likely to make him a one term president. There are an estimated half million bump stocks in private hands, possibly more. These people will be forced to surrender their private property worth hundreds of dollars or risk a major felony conviction and a ten year prison sentence. These half million people will NOT be voting for President Trump in 2020 you can bet the farm on that and probably nearly all of them did vote for him in 2016. Then they are going to have influence on other like minded people to the tune of maybe one or two people each. That's 1.5 million votes, gone. Take that much out and you lose the election. The bad news is it's likely to be way more than 1.5 million. No these people will not vote for Hillary. More than likely they are just going to stay home and that will throw the election to the dems.

Their was no need for the President to take this action. It was pure emotional placating. Taking this action through executive fiat is going to prove political suicide. It would have been ok if this went through the legislative process but it didn't. Worse yet there is no grandfather clause. Turn them in or a Swat team kicks in your door at Ten O clock at night and either kills you or arrests you to face a ten year prison sentence.

This is a major political blunder of the type that can destroy a nation. We have a system to ban things in this country. Legislation passes both houses of congress and gets signed by the president. We now have set a precedent that provides the foundation for a dictatorship. This MUST NOT STAND. If it does, it's goodbye America.

All the jokes aside. Bump stocks are fairly worthless to any serious shooter, or any shooter who intends to use them in a tactical environment.

That said, this is a terrible precedent. There would be no difference from the bump stock ban than if a Democrat president came in and issued an executive order deeming all AR-15 and AK-47 pattern rifles to be NFA items.

I hate to repeat myself, but the NRA has been around for every egregious law passed by the Congress infringing on the Second Amendment since 1877. It doesn’t mean you can’t join in their agenda, it just means you need to be aware of what it is you are supporting with your dollars. The NRA is not your friend. Again, join all you want, but know they are not the organization we need fighting for our freedom. They could change with appropriate Leadership, but I am not holding my breath.

With the NRA as guardian of the Second Amendment, how long can we say our right to bear arms, will include firearms?

I bought a year membership at the height of the David Hogg hysteria. Also bought a membership to Gun Owners of America, a much more solid organization.
