Stove top machines are less than 20 bucks. Makes a fine cup of espresso.

You are right. I’ve gone through a couple of those-wonderful espresso, but the rubber ring keeps deteriorating on me. I may get another when our never ending kitchen renovation is finally done. I have a Chemex for plain coffee and the special filters must reduce the caffeine because I don’t get jittery with coffee made in it. I do love an espresso, though.

For most people, everything in moderation seems to work.

After my father developed serious heart problems, the doctors made him give up all coffee—decaf and regular. The only thing he could drink was herbal tea.

Caffeine can be dangerous for people with heart arrhythmias.

This is the best:

Siphon machines not only make strong coffee; they make smooth coffee. Also try Lavaza expresso.

I ordered a french press.

Got a recommendation for a good one? Likely a bazillion on Amazon, so thinning the field would help.

Honestly, I don’t think you could go wrong with any of them. They all do the same thing in the same way.

Go for the cheapest one.

I’ve had several French presses and love the coffee they produce. Strong yet smooth.

First things First,

The smell of coffee in the afternoon is just awesome.

But I must resist.

I’m still waiting for the study that says drinking beer for breakfast is the key to a long life.

When your reno is done and you have some extra coin:

I’ve had mine for over 20 years and love it. Use it daily for our lattes. Wife and I have them each afternoon. I did purchase it in Italy though ... at about 1/2 the current price.

I got one from Amazon call Chateau something or other. My wife thinks it is crazy that I would even buy something called that. I guess I am “mellowing” in my old age.

Found it on Amazon, seems popular.

How much work compared to a drip machine?

That’s on my wish-list. The siphon I have is more old school:

It makes really great coffee, but only two (American-sized) cups. It is one of the best conversation pieces in a house filled with unique finds. Nothing like a gas lamp and self-actuated balance that moves and gurgles coffee in a glass jar. My wife thought it was ridiculous, but after her first cup, she now asks me to use the “little coffee maker.” LOL

Who said it was?

Similar but lesser situation to cannabis, with 350 bioactive compounds.
