Another Bushiite dictating how it ought to be. Clown.
Confederate Heroes Day = Lee/Jackson B’Day in VA.
Erasing history. How Stalinesque.
We gotta hold our noses for Bush or else Chelsea will win in 2028!
Stay out da Bushes.
Maybe declaring it so will inspire undesirables to move OUT of Texas!
Actually, the Texas holiday was established long before the MLK one so, if anything, you’d have to argue that having MLK the same week is a slap in the other direction.
I believe that many Texans see Jorge P as a slap in the face.
So much for George P’s political future.
Another Jeb in the making.
The more I learn the more I despise all Bushes.
660,000 men died in the Civil War . . . to not honor at least half of these men is disgusting and totally un-American. When will this trashing of these heroes stop? A clear example of the total stupidity of most of America of the causes and heartache of the Civil war.
He’ll have to carpetbag if he wants to win a statewide election.
Whom the GOPe would really like to trot out against Kamala or any other Dem race/gender baiter, eh?
Houston is more complicated than that
He was a slave owner and opposed abolition but he also apposed secession
He refused Lincoln offer to sent federals to forcibly squash secession support in Texas so he effectively stepped and let his lt governor take his place
He believed in states rights but he feared the federal government and its power to defeat he south
He was historically as we know a cautious military man and he was prescient obviously about the future
But an ardent unionist he was not.....he knew odds were long for Dixie
How rich! A guy whose family is from Connecticut telling Texas how it should be.
Bush League Republicans need to become extinct or the Republic will.
