Vanity - Elections, New Jersey, Virginia & Alabama, not good news for Democrats?

Posted on 12/31/2017 1:10:42 AM PST by JLAGRAYFOX

Democrats are predicting a massive wave political victory in the upcoming 2018 Mid-Term elections. Citing their victories in New Jersey, Virginia & Alabama, this year, as positive proof of their forthcoming victories in 2018. "WRONG"!!!

Why? New Jersey was a no brainer. A Democrat dog catcher, man or woman would have won NJ with their eyes closed.

Virginia, first of all, Governor Terry McAuliffe, one of the biggest political Cheaters/Criminal of all time did his best act. He was lucky because the "weak" Republican candidate, Ed Gilliespie, shunned the support of POTUS, Donald J. Trump. As a result of that stance, thousands upon thousands of Trump supporters stayed home and did not vote in the Governor election. That move impacted the whole election across the state. Had the Trump Republican Conservative ran for Governor instead of Ed Gilliespie.....the Pubbies had a great chance of winning. Ed Gilliespie threw that election away..period.

Alabama, Judge Roy Moore the Republican candidate for the US Senate did not lose that election because of his alleged abuse of young women forty years age. He lost that election because he was a badly flawed candidate, that failed to campaign aggressively, do interviews with "tough" media folks, sounded and acted like a quasi-racist. African-Americans hated Moore, because they believed he was a "racist at heart". Thus the upset loss of the Alabama seat. In fact, POTUS, Trump earlier in the campaign stated that Roy Moore would have a rough time winning the seat and voiced his support for the current sitting Senator, Luther Strange, who lost in a runoff against Judge Roy Moore

So...if I were a Democrat political leader, I would take very little comfort from all three of these elections. My prediction is...the Republicans easily hold both the House & Senate, come the November election. Republicans will gain five to twenty seats in the House and they will win five to eight Senate seats in the Senate.

Bottom line unless Democrats change their tune dramatically top work positively with POTUS, Trump...they go nowhere, but, down, politically. Case closed. Pundits & Pollsters beware...you are already on thin ice with American voters...do not become become 100% stupid as most of you are today!!

At the outset, I believed the best Republican candidate would have been Mo Brooks, the current House member from northern Alabama, but Brooks came up short behind, Luther Strange and Roy Moore.

I then supported Roy Moore with much gusto, but, I began to learn this guy was an “oddball”, a flawed candidate. he hardly campaigned, he skipped interviews with media reporters, and riding around on his horse was not the thing to do in a tight race. I also believe the sex allegations carried little weight if anything. Roy Moore was just an unfit candidate...across the board!!!

I have to hand it to POTUS, Trump, he had Roy Moore pegged from the very start. He knew that Luther Strange would have won the seat in a landslide. Instead, Roy Moore handed the Democrats a gift they never expected to get. Alabama Blacks, enmasse, looked upon Roy Moore as a full Racist. Bottom line....The Roy Moore loss was a plus for Trump. Trump will string up that Democrat moron, Doug Jones, like a chicken in the Henhouse. Case closed!!!

Virginia is weighted by hundreds of thousands Democrat low life government workers. Trump realized this and went after bigger fish like Florida, Texas, Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, South Carolina, etc.

Ed Gilliespie campaigned hard in Virginia, much more then Trump did....but Gilliespie was a “Never Trumper” and that killed him politically. Case closed.

The FACT that the dems were able to steal the Alabama election with the blessing of Establishment Republicans provides them with the roadmap to win US Senate seats. It’s a slippery slope the power-broker ‘pubs started down, deciding to throw that election when they didn’t get the nominee they wanted.

And the nominee they wanted was corrupt to begin with.

The Democrats won because they have gotten away with being toxic. I would look to the race in Alabama to see what it is that the future holds tactic wise for 2018. Roy Moore was a badly flawed candidate, but he was a badly flawed candidate with a commanding lead UNTIL he was accused of harassing teen girls when he was in his 30’s in the 11th hour.

IMO, it is IMPERATIVE to go after corruption and to get people used to publicised prosecutions based on misuse of the levers of power. If the corruption angle is pursued with sexual harassment and other abuse of power prosecutions and the Republicans lay bare the Democrats methodology, step by step, then 11th hour protestations consisting of a ton of smoke and no fire will be put into perspective.

This will also benefit the women who are genuinely suffering in bad work situations because it will prevent the #MeToo issue from just turning into a “he said/she said” witch hunt and single-use issue to get the Democrats elected.

I know people who are stuck in the Democrats echo chamber. Otherwise intelligent people who seem to regard the infliction of toxic un-American nonsense and identity politics on everyone they know as a public service. People who have become utterly uncritical drone signaling devices. That’s pretty scary.

I live in Alabama and to say that Moore was a flawed candidate is an understatement. If the Republicans nominate a decent candidate to run against Jones in 2020, that person will easily win.

Well, I hope the Alabama GOP won't nominate him again. It's time for Brooks as you and Ann Coulter said.

An interesting silver lining to all this is that Moore's defeat freed the Republicans from the stigma that the dims were fixing to place on Trump through Gillibrand & Co. And it came from a statement by---of all people -- Doug Jones. When he said it was already considered by the voters before the 2016 election and it was time to move on, it completely shut her down. BOOM!

Yep...Bingo..you got it right, 100%. Trump dodged a bullet with Moore going down...plus, we got us a real low life “Baby Killer” Democrat...Doug Jones, to beat up on for the next couple of years!!! Thanks, Roy Moore!!!

Glad to read that.

Did not seem like Moore was all that ideal, from a distance.

Good chance of picking up a few seats in the midterms - better than the dem’s chance and they won’t have the billions it would take to inundate all their weak areas.....

The demodummies in those states will probably use the same voting machines Arkansas used to get the votes they wanted. Nothing would surprise me related to elections anymore as corruption runs ramped in the election process. The demodummies are masters at deception and deceit when it comes to elections.

NJ is certainly no bellwether for the rest of the country; the Dem won after openly admitting he’d raise taxes in one of the highest-taxed states. The simple truth is that the demographic disaster here ensures we’ll probably never see a Republican governor again; taxpayers and their employers are fleeing the tax burden, while government workers, Welfarians, and an imported lower class (the former paid by taxes, the latter two paying no taxes at all) cement a socialist majority in place. We’re following CA into the abyss; like CA, we have pension obligations that will impoverish NJ for generations to come; would you move here and basically buy a share of that massive IOU? Any tax contributions you make will be used to pay people who haven’t worked for decades, and your neighborhood will look like the homelands of our imported lower class due to lack of funding for anything...

The republican party (not the President) needs to start playing offense otherwise the demoncraps will eat their lunch. Playing offense means putting criminal politicians and gov officials in jail. Playing offense means putting slanderous and libelous media people in jail. Playing offense means putting slanderous and libelous celebrities in jail.

This is very bad for the Deplorable Agenda. In Alabama, Dems have found a way to win....gin up the Black female population. Establishment Republicans have shown that they’d rather lose elections than have someone win who is opposed to them. I’m wondering if they’re planning to throw the next election in the US Senate just to keep control of the national agenda, along with their real allies, Democratic power brokers.

Unfortunately, you are right. The establishment Republicans have shown that they are not a weak opposition force, they are actually allied to the left. And your point about black females is right on the mark. They have learned how to get a very high turnout that provides absolute and unconditional support to anyone backed by the swamp. Trump supporters (of which I am one, btw) are whistling past the graveyard, here, and have completely stuck their heads in the sand. This was Alabama. A republican candidate could be caught with a dead girl, a live boy, and an assortment of farm animals, and still win by double digits. People saying that he lost because he didn't campaign in the last week, and because he ran a poor campaign, are kidding themselves. There is clearly something else going on.

The bottom line is that Trump won for one reason: a sizable block of voters despise DC, and believe that DC is completely out of control in terms of what they do to the citizenry, what they take from the citizenry, and their sense of entitlement. Trump, for all of his flaws, was seen as someone who sided, unequivocally, with ordinary people. He was, after all, the blue collar billionaire. He wasn't elected to give us a tax cut. He wasn't elected to fix health care. He wasn't even there to enforce the border (although this was, and is, very important). No. He was there to drain the swamp. That was the most important thing. People sense that something is fundamentally broken, and he was elected to fix it. And it has been a year. Preaching "patience" doesn't negate the bottom line. There have been no substantive arrests. Nobody is sitting in jail. There have not been widespread firings. We do not have ongoing trials. Nothing. Trump is fighting from his heels, and the swamp, quite frankly, is stronger than ever. Their control over both parties, the media, and governmental institutions has, at a minimum, not been harmed by Trump and, if anything, has grown stronger.

Republican voters are clearly discouraged. There is no way, on God's green earth, that a non-establishment Republican would have lost a state like Alabama otherwise. His "scandal" was a 40 year old, unproven allegation, that he dated younger women (compare this to the allegations against, say, Clinton, of rampant drug use, rape, and wholesale corruption). A minor allegation, and a lackluster campaign, does *not* translate into a loss in a state like Alabama, which does not have the sizable Democrat voting base of similar states like Mississippi, South Carolina, and Georgia. He should have won, handily, even though he was a weak candidate, a flawed candidate, and a strange little man. Something else is going on here, and it has to do with the Republican voters. Not the die-hard supporters preaching patience and "this is 4d chess, Trump is a master tactician" types. Ordinary Republican voters, who despise Washington, are discouraged, and the swamp is figuring out how to combat the political insurgency.

What is your speculation as to whom would be a decent
candidate? Are you hearing any rumblings of anyone
that may run? I know the primary is over two years out
but a candidate needs to be making plans and getting
in front of the voters.

2018 will be a great year for Trump Supporters. I think you’ll see R Senators (Missouri, Indiana, Florida, Montana, North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan. And maybe a few blue states, too.). I think you will see R governors in Connecticut, Pennsylvania and New York. House seats, maybe a pick up of 1 to 5 seats...

He knew that Luther Strange would have won the seat in a landslide.

You, perhaps unintentionally, raise an interesting question.

Please file this under the heading of "you can't always get what you want."

Should Deplorables support a high-probability of winning Republican Swamp critter who is to the right of the McCain/Collins/Graham cabal, or a long-shot lower-case "d" deplorable?

It strikes me that, in retrospect, that was the option in AL and (again, perhaps inadvertently) the good citizens voted for a weak deplorable...and now we have 51-49.

Yea, I know..."if Moore hadn't lost the backing of the National Party...if the teenager dating/14-year old assault charges hadn't come out..." and so on. But like I said, you can't always get what you want.

We need a Deplorable farm system like the Tea Party started to build. Until then, your inadvertent question needs to be pondered.

Dem voters were being driven by anti-Trump media hysteria to turn out at near presidential levels in AL and VA.

The GOP needs to crank up its GOTV for the midterms if it wants to keep the House.

Like NJ, NY has lost a lot of the voters that would support a Republican governor. I don’t see that happening; the scales have tipped past Romney’s “47%” point in NY.
