Never heard of her, but I know the song--and I'm going to play it right here, without asking her permission.
Mickey--Ted Weems & His Orchestra
Originally it was Kitty by the British group Racey, an album track written originally for Blondie.

Weird Al Yankovic spoofed it as Ricky, as in Lucy and Ricky Ricardo
She is/was very talented. My wife knew her at Las Vegas High. She was in the class of 1961, my wife wast 1960.
Discovering you've been cheated out of thousands and thousands of dollars can be very anxiety-inducing.
It's unlikely after a sole hit song almost forty years ago that Toni Basil is sitting on a vast fortune. I'm sure she has bills to pay just like the rest of us.

Could not get past the start of “Head”
It used to be used all the time as intro music for former Rep. Mickey Edwards.
“Never heard of her OR her song.”
Wow, that’s surprising. I was always amazed that she came out with her hit song (and hit video) when she was 39 years old. She still looked great in her original high school cheerleader uniform and was clearly a better dancer (well, she was a professional!) than the girls in the video who were probably 15 years younger than she was at the time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=93uQSc0v6-Y
Here’s a video of her showing some of her amazing dance moves from 1964 until 2016: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lzVvpiv_NIA
Here she is at the 1:50 minute mark chatting with Bing Crosby on the set for Robin and the Seven Hoods (1964): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iUZXOdsEPJo
Something ain’t right. How could she not know she was due royalties for 30 years? No. I aint buyin it.
You must be too old or too young to remember the summer of 1982 if memory serves. My best friend thought she was incredibly hot and it played multiple times an hour on the radio.
I don’t remember if she was hot and didn’t care for the song, but I can still hear it in my head.

While “Mickie” was her only Top 40 hit, she did have two other songs that made it into the Top 100.

(I personally like this song a lot better than the other two.)
Yeah, a lot of it sucked, but a lot was just plain stupid fun.
Did they pay ASCAP? You don’t need permission if you pay.
There was an annoying poster, since departed, who pimped his business website in his posts, and in not my finest moment as a mod I changed the URL to a Frankie Goes to Hollywood video. Thus proving Lord Acton right once again.
You mean you didn’t “Rick Roll” him? ;^D
OMG, I remember MJ&Speed :D
Wonder if I can find a downloadable torrent...
Loved the van ;^)
