Toni Basil, the one-hit wonder behind “Mickey,” filed suit in L.A. Superior Court on Thursday alleging that the song has been used without her permission for decades.
According to the suit, Basil recently became aware that the song was used in an episode of “South Park,” in a Forever 21 ad, and on an episode of “RuPaul’s Drag Race.” She was particularly offended that the Forever 21 campaign was in support of a line of Disney products, associating her song with Mickey Mouse.
“Basil was never consulted and would never consent to the use of her voice, persona, image, or name coupled with Disney products,” the suit states.
Since finding that her song was misused, Basil has become “withdrawn, despondent, and physically ill,” the suit alleges, and has experienced “sleep deprivation, nightmares, and anxiety.”

It’s an extremely annoying song from the 1980s like most of the music back then. Hands down, the absolute worst decade for music. Its when the music biz realized they could sell records by simply having a cute video rather than a good song and the overall music quality sank faster that Hillarys face on election night and personally, I don’t think it’s ever recovered.

It’s a one-off campy song that you had to be convinced to make, and almost no one knows the words outside of the chorus.
The video itself was a low-budget mess, and God knows you are lucky Disney didn’t sue you.
Be happy that you still enjoy fame almost 40 years later for one lucky hit.
I looked it up, she’s 73. Wow, that’s almost as old as Madonna.
