I don't know much about property law or copyright law but if,by chance,her accusations are well founded and she *did* have a right to compensation then she certainly has reason to be angry...and to pursue the matter in court.

I’m sure the legal departments of most of the users of the song crossed the t’s and dotted the i’s, and she cashed a small royalty check.

They don’t need her explicit permission if they go through the publishers and pay for the use of the song.

I’m sure you are correct. Producers know this stuff. There might be some dispute over parodies, but she’s just asking for money she isn’t really entitled to, and she may get some from someone as a PR gesture. No harm in asking.

Rap is nothing but rhythmic grunting, Ebonics and cussing. While I've never been a fan of Mickey, I think you'd have to admit it has melody...just not exactly a very good one.
